Hi all, anyone gone from a Mi 8 to a Mi 9 SE? In the UK they are both the same price and deciding which one to go for.

Exellent phone, only thing boders me is that always on display doesnt show all notification. If anyone knows how to set notifications on AOD please help

The MIUI started acting up after a while, "floating" around and not responding to my input. It was not freeing, just having a mind of its own, not responding accordingly. This was annoying but hardly a deal breaker, except for one occasion about a month ago. My kid was selected as a soloist with a famous dance company... as she came on stage, I unlocked the phone to record her solo, and the MIUI started its "floating" nonsense, not opening the camera, not unlocking, just flashing the purple fingerprint thumbnail on screen in its confusion. No matter what I tired, it didn't wake up, even holding the power button for a hard reset. I could not revive it in time, and that was the end of her solo and my love affair with cheap Chinese phones. I smashed the stupid phone over the chair's hard wooden back, and it was the most satisfactory moment of my time with it. Enjoy yours.

They are both over 75mm in width, so totally unsuitable.!

3.5mm jack missing is really fail, however dongle is in box with phone
SD Card is not problem if you buy 128GB model
Camera is great
Loudspeaker very good
Lightweight
Battery last one day, using mobile data, Wi-fi -- sadly
LED notification missing is very dumb, they should sacrifice 1mm of space on phone

Junk... looks nice in general, lousy camera, silly audio dongle. Software started acting up after a few months.. phone is getting confused occasionally, sometimes at most inconvenient moments. No SD card - unless you backup your photos and videos to the cloud, they'll die with the phone. I regret buying it

disaster ba... moreAre u serious? Mi 9 SE is little brother of the Mi 9 flagship. Why do u compare compact phone to larger phone? Not all people want large phone. People like you are the one who make phone manufacturers reluctant to make more compact phone.
Mi 9 SE share most of the feature from Mi 9 such as the great camera, aluminium frame, AMOLED HDR display made by Samsung, infrared port, aptX HD Bluetooth support.
Vivo Z5 and Realme X2 is mid class phone. They have inferior ultrawide cam and don't have telephoto, cheap plastic frame, display not support HDR (not by Samsung), and some less feature that you can't see.
Compare mid class phone with mid class phone just like Redmi Note 8 pro! They are all have plastic frame and less camera feature.

Anonymous, 25 Nov 2019please suggest between a50 or mi 9 se . thanks a lot!!I would suggest xiaomi. I have my old xiaomi Redmi 4X for 2.5 years and it is still nice phone, but it is slowing down a bit since apps are getting bigger and eat more ram and cpu resources.
Now I will probably buy Mi 9 SE as well. MIUI is only a matter of getting used to it. Only keep in mind that A50 is bigger and Mi 9 SE is smaller and other differencies. I Prefere phones like 70mm in width so it is really good choice for me.
Xiaomi is doing a great job :) !
