You have to unlock bootloader first then you have to flash a custom recovery and after you will be able to flash a custom ROM of your choice. You can flash custom ROM based on a11 or a12 or a13 or even the latest Android 14.
It was my best decision to purchase this phone. Camera is very good and build quality is good also.

I decided to buy, Mi 9T Pro, two weeks later. Currently, I'm Oppo Reno2 Z user and those phones have Pup-Up cameras. I will keep my Oppo to use, Mi 9T Pro slighlty shorter size, but faster CPU & GPU... I will reach 8.000 Mah Battery Sizes and 2 Different GSM lines with 2×2 SIM Card Slots... I'm affordable best phones guy.

Hiswill, 10 Nov 2023Any Issues Yet with the custom Rom? Not at all
        It's still going great
I would prefer to use this over some other mid-range phone.
The only con is no 5g. Other than that i don't see any.
btw I'm using voltageOS. It is one of the best custom rom for daily use. Very good battery life.
And with gcam it can click amazing and very clear shots.

2023 and still the best flagship, sad that miui stop giving updates to mi 9t pro. Just use custom roms for better performance. Im using Pixel Experience btw.

Been using this since 2020, and it been serving me well all these times. Overall is ok, had sudden CPU spike causing phone to heat and cannot identify the reason, but i haven't face it anymore. This phone does not support VoLTE, therefore if your provider shutting down 3G, you need to drop to 2G to receive call. Display color is superb, did not have any burn in screen.

OKAY, 06 Jun 2023Okay, i need a phone in 2023 with what was offered in 2019 ... moreThere is nothing to suggest. Every other xiaomi phone is crap with 108mp, 200mp but records at 1080p. Like they think consumer will not notice about recording ability. Thats why they put so many mp so consumers would thing. Wow what a great camera so many mp. All redmi phones are useless lite version, redmi version, note version. At best you get 4k/30fps which is ridicules in 2023. And they charge for those crap phones 400-600. So no there is nothing interesting from xiaomi these days. Something that comes closer is xiaomi 13 with reduced screen size and very high pricetag. For that amount of money buy samsung 23. At least you get good updates for a longer period of time. For less then that buy nothing phone 2. Everything else is laughable.

Bought it in 2019 and this phone is still running amazingly. The performance might have reduced a bit, but it's negligible. It can still handle these huge social apps and games easily. However it's been a really long time since this phone got any updates. I think that the best 2023 alternative to this phone is POCO F5 Pro.

Legendry phone. Xiaomi doesn't make phones this good at the price it was launched at. 🙃

Had it since it came out. am very happy with it. nothing to complain at all, didn't realize it had 4000mah until this year, battery never was a problem. I dont know much about fixing phones but i have replaced the lcd 4 times and battery once i believe. easy to fix and i dont have to painstakingly detach its battery. my first phone to own and first phone model I've fixed. now i have spare batteries and lcds to last my 9tpro for a long time! (hopefully)

you can reduce memory leak by go to setting and search "scanning" and then turn off wifi and Bluetooth auto scan. This function make your phone automatically turn on wifi and Bluetooth by itself. I don't know why it fixed the memory leak but it helped with mine 2019 64gb 9t pro.

After 3 and a half years of usage I can honestly say that the phone performs like new and fulfills its purpose for my needs almost without complaint. I use it for browsing, messaging and navigation. The battery has about 83% of its initial mAh capacity according to AccuBattery. I charge it daily from ~25% to ~77%.
Now to the negative - the HotSpot is not working properly. I can connect to it, but I don´t get actual internet. I rarely use it but when I do I DO NEED IT. Its annoying, like the bloatware of stupid Xiaomi apps, but I accepted that when I decided to go for this phone.
I bought it for ~450$ in October 2019. Looking at todays offerings from Xiaomi and other Chinese manufacturers and their price tag I can say that I will be using this phone for the foreseeable future and then I will probably go back to the stock Android phones, or those with minimal bloatware, unless the Chinese phones go back to their roots of being top spec for cheap.
