Your "old pocket cam" is probably better quality than most, if not all, phone cameras; it's not just the Mi 5X, which isn't really considered high-end.

I have a Mi 5 and it got updated a few months ago to Android 7 (Nougat) from Android 6 (Marshmallow). Also, it is not just a skin, it is a UI. You should not mind if it "tries to differentiate itself from iOS" anyway, because you are a "current iPhone convert".

Snapdragon 660, 6 gigs of ram and 128 GB internal storage sounds delicious and mouth watering. Hope xiaomi could pull that off. Dual camera is just for show in budget smartphones. They don't actually perform like the iphone 7 plus which isn't surprising at all. I HOPE it's just not for the trend of dual camera for the mi5x just like the honor 6x and tons of other smartphones. Xiaomi should back it up by providing OPTICAL IMAGE STABILISATION to the dual camera setup or it'll just turn out to b an iPhone clone which looks malnourished in front of the S8.

I just don't get it Xiaomi. Where is the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2? Has it been replaced by xiaomi x1 which is already been cancelled? Then what is this mi5x? Is it a replacement for the Redmi pro 2 and the xiaomi x1? Then why the heck does it not have a bezel less display like the previously rumored x1 and pro 2. Just launch em' all from the bezel less display to the beefy SD 660 to the dual cameras setup. The wait for all these devices has been killing me.

An OEM that never updates the Android, but makes sure to fill their own skin with now redundant features does not deserve the time of day. Software support is what is valuable, not updates to a skin that even though tries to differentiate itself from iOS has failed to do so with every iteration.
