miui 9 global is started through ota updates
I have received stable update.
its will be updated on website in few days as earlier also it was 5-10 days late on website with all devices

The official ROM version is still MIUI 8.
Only the developer ROM is MIUI 9.
So, those who are getting say getting MIUI 9 is on developer ROM.
The latest Global ROM is version 8.5.1.0 (MIUI 8), for all variant (32GB, 64GB and 128GB variant).

Gabbu, 12 Nov 2017Anybody got miui update on mi max prime.... If you are not recieving MIUI updates at all, it means your phone's ROM is infected with a virus by the people you bought your phone from. (Try to remember; The package you got was already opened)

fineemina, 05 Sep 2017What's region are you. I have the same phone using for l... moreI'm from Indonesia. And my Mi Max Prime with global version before. Then after upgraded there is no any issues at all. So, I think no matter where you bought it then just upgrade it because it's proven stable.
