Tejasvi, 29 May 2020I fully agree with you. These Xiaomi jerks haven't provided... moreYes. It's pathetic how Xiaomi updated the cheapest Redmi 4x line from marshmallow to nougat but never did update the more expensive Mi Max 2 from Nougat to Oreo. Born with Nougat, the Mi Max 2 is dying with Nougat. The only phone worse in terms of updates is the LG V20. The V20 also launched with Nougat in 2016 and it is still in Nougat in 2020 for many international variants. For a flagship phone that launched with a $799 price tag in 2016 (LG V20), having zero android software version updates is inconceivable. LG paid for it dearly now that all its phones from entry-level to flagship are largely ignored by buyers and its mobile business is bleeding, dying a slow, painful death.

These Xiaomi jerks haven't provided a single software update for mi max 2(android version). Yes, they constantly keep changing their miui crap(by that i mean adding ads). Mi max 2 is a classic example of why not to trust chinese brands. It's an mi series handset which didn't receive a single android update which is absolutely shameful if you ask me. Regarding android updates, buy from brands like OnePlus,Asus and Android one(even xiaomi has to provide update no matter how much they delay but they have to update),Nokia etc. Next time buy phones from brands that actually provide timely updates. Absolutely pathetic state of affairs. Absolute wastage of money if you ask me( Still stuck on android 7.1 in 2020)

Anonymous, 21 May 2020Yep. As if you're making sense with your 'questions'. How am I not. (Notice the tone of that question) He literally had tons of great ROMs to choose from yet chose the official one.

Anonymous, 21 May 2020Interrogative sentences end with a question mark. You know that was a question regardless of the ending. I know it's not grammatically correct, I simply don't like the tone that question marks seem to give. Excluding them makes the tone seem more serious and tired of the questioned person's nonsense. To me at least.

Mi Max 2 user, 19 Apr 2020Guys, if you're experiencing slowdown/lag/battery drain on ... moreYes, you're right. Those last few MIUI updates just as soon as a Xiaomi phone approaches 2-3 years old are planned obsolescence. Those fast battery drain problems and ultra slow charging problems mysteriously appear after installing the last few updates when the Xiaomi phone approaches 2 years old (usually for midrange models) and 3 years old (usually for flagship models). That's how Xiaomi forces users to give up their old Xiaomi phone and buy a new one - planned obsolescence Xiaomi style.

The last of the truly huge phones. All the rest that came after it were of smaller screen area: longer but never wider. It's been three years and I've learned my lesson NEVER EVER to update the MIUI software when a Xiaomi phone approaches the second year. So I stopped updating after the first MIUI 10 update amd battery life and charging is still as good as when it was new.
Xiaomi is NOTORIUS for pushing updates usually starting on the second year to force PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE. After the update, charging mysteriously becomes VERY SLOWLY (not immediately though so you won't suspect the update), but shortly, your Xiaomi phone will start draining very fast and you lose fast charging. It becomes very slow charging (from 2 hrs to 12 hrs). This causes accelerated battery wear because you'll charge longer and more frequently. Ultimately, the battery swells (becomes bloated) and it won't hold any charge anymore.
So be warned. Never install MIUI updates when your Xiaomi phone is approaching 2 years old from date of release.
I have 3 Xiaomi phones killed by Xiaomi this way.

Guys, if you're experiencing slowdown/lag/battery drain on MIUI 11, just root the phone and delete msa and Analytics with Root Uninstaller (found on Play Store, I think)
They prevent the phone from going into deep sleep or even light sleep (that was my case). No matter what I did, troubleshoot, use Greenify, kill everything, dirty flash, clean flash the drain remained. My problem was even worse, having worse battery drain on WiFi, than on 4G (probably because the phone is in a bit looser wake state then). I do understand why they did this, planned obsolescence and all that stuff, but I'll try to get the phone to my liking, every time :)

For 3.5 years now this phone has been a dream to own. The power button got damaged when I dropped it for the 300th time but I managed to jimmy it off entirely and it has been like that for 2 years. I give it the odd reboot using a key or knife but it has been on the majority of it's life. Charged for one hour and it'll still show me 60% life come the end of the working day and when watching the football or a film it'll last hours. I have never fully tested it but the reports it will do 5 films, one after the other, does not surprise me. i have certainly used it for over three hours before now and it has still got through the night before needing a charge the following morning. The screen is barely marked at all. It is huge, so very hard to forget. The camera is decent enough. Not amazing but I have thousands of memories thanks to it. Finger print sensor is responsive and accurate still. It works fast and as it did when I first took it out of the box. A simple clean up once every 12 months sorts it out really, really well. Still no plan to get rid. I tried an A2 and actually sold it after one day (for a profit!) because I missed this so much. Will be buying another before they disappear off the face of the Earth. Well done Xiaomi. A real Ferrari of a handset in a market of Renaults.

This phone is great in every way, however few things could be better. Such as so called stereo speakers where one of them is the ear piece and you can just about barely hear the high pitched sound from it. The headphone output also isnt very powerful i would stick with my HTC 820 for music. The battery estimated time is very awkward to understand, often it will tell you have 50+ hours left but in reality if you will actively use this phone it might just about last a day. There is a lock screen issue as MIUI will not allow 3rd party apps with their own lock screen interface to show when you wake the phone. For example if i use poweramp which has its own lock screen UI with playback controls, the Xiaomi lock screen will not allow my poweramp interface to show covering everything up with MIUI lock screen. Other than that the phone is great, it has its own physical controls for navigating which allows you to make use of entire screen. Its great for watching films and surfing the web it almost feels like a ultra portable tablet. And the fact that it has 4gb of ram with a 8 core CPU will make this phone last a good while. Pick one up on ebay they go for less than 140€ in 2020.
