This device is way cooler than anything else I've seen. The $$$$ price - it will drop. Just seeing the spec for just the camera alone on this phone makes it difficult to look at other handsets` specs and not be disappointed. Design, too; everything else just not nearly as interesting. Sure wish it was at least splash proof, though.

I've watched the Mi Mix Alpha launch video and it is very impressive the idea of turning the whole phone into a screen it's genius Xiaomi has highly impressed me and it seems to be a step ahead compare to other brands such as Apple and Samsung. Xiaomi seems on the good path concerning of the future of smartphones but still there are
things that bother me one of these is the size how are we gonna hold it with one hand from my opinion they need to reconsider the size because I think a phone should fit easily in a hand and secondly the solidity of the screen even if we don't want our phone to fall it happens so knowing that 95% of the it is glass it's quite worrisome so
we need to consider these before spending any cash on it
Apart from these Xiaomi's future on the phone market looks pretty glorious and promising.

I have the Mi Pad 4 and the "metal" they used doesn't even feel like metal, more like textured plastic. And the body isn't seamless, which makes it feel less premium. Their screens are also very unimpressive, 1) they mostly use IPS instead of AMOLED and 2) Most of their screens lack sharpness and contrast. Even my 5 year old Galaxy Tab 3 has better sharpness and contrast than my Mi Pad 4.
I also don't like Xiaomi's software, not because of design (I actually like it) but because of functionality and stability. Their cameras also take unremarkable photos, even if they use a good sensor.
Also generally Xiaomi has had a bad rep in the Chinese market for selling cheaply made products (compared to Huawei or Vivo). However surprisingly enough, their home products are actually pretty good.

I do not know, maybe they have founded the way to solve that problem, but that's something I think a lot.
On the other hand, it looks pretty nice.
