Its due to the plastic sheet applied on upper head of phone where sensor is located.
Remove the sheet.It will work.

FakirMehmet, 25 Jul 2020 Is there a feature to disable miui bloatware applications ?To remove bloatware you will need to connect the device to desktop/laptop and use adb shell commands. Note adb has to be pre installed on your desktop/laptop

Otherwise it's a good phone, you can manually get rid of all Xiaomi adds, I personally use Nova launcher, display looks good and with little Googleing you can find many solutions to different "problems" that my occur while using this phone.
Camera is quite nice (do not forget to turn off xiaomi watermark), sound quality is listenable, battery lasts for a day if you use it often (social mediaYouTubeet-no gaming experience except Candy Crush and it did not eat battery).
All in all... The proximity sensor issue kills this device... If they do not fix this problem then this phone must be called back because it is unusable. (At the moment only a few people say that THE new update fixed this problem but there are not many people saying that...

20 days using of mi note 10 lite , I like the design ,phone is ok for me , proxmity sensor is working ok for me , I like the curved display , it's feels gud , guys don't compare with flagship mobile , its midrange chipset 730g ,so performance like midrange , 2 days battery gets if normal use , it's not too heavy weight , about camera , I Install gcam , better take photos in gcam ,

Would it be a good choice to switch over from Xperia XZ1? I am looking for consistent performance. Alsa found a outlet huawei p30 for the same price.
