Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 arrives with LTE for $230
Despite tablet sales steadily going down lately Xiaomi is still committed to the niche and has just announced the Mi Pad 4. The new slate comes with a Snapdragon 660 chipset, LTE support and an extremely attractive price tag.
The all-metal device has an 8” LCD panel with 16:10 aspect ratio and WUXGA resolution (1920 x 1200 pixels). The SoC has an octa-core CPU, clocked at 2.2 GHz and an Adreno 512 GPU. Xiaomi will offer the device with two memory configurations - either 3/32 GB or 4/64 GB.
There is a 13 MP main camera with f/2.0 lens for all the savages that take pictures and videos with tablets. The setup has an HDR mode and 1080p video recording. There is no LED flash on board because it is most likely to go unused.
The selfie snapper might be 5 MP, but it has AI Face Unlock that is a MIUI-enhanced version of the stock Android feature.
The size of the Mi Pad 4 is pretty compact - 200.2 x 120.3 mm and is only 7.9 mm thin. It weighs 342.5 grams and packs a 6,600 mAh battery with regular 10W charging through a USB-C port. There is also a nano-SIM port for the LTE version.
Speaking of connectivity, all Wi-Fi protocols are supported - 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, meaning there is support for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. There is also Bluetooth 5.0 that comes along with all newer Snapdragon versions.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 is already available for pre-order in China, with launch scheduled for June 29. It can be purchased in Black or Rose Gold colors. The 3/32 GB Wi-Fi variant is CNY1,099 (less than $170/€150), the more powerful 4/64 GB without LTE is CNY1,399 (around $215/€180), but if you want a mobile network with it, it is CNY100 more, or about $230/€200.

There are already many 10" slabs in the market. This would be the perfect replacement for owners of the ageing nexus 7. About the same height, slightly wider, thinner, 16:10 aspect ratio and same price range too.
