whoever is purchasing, just be sure that there are no yellowish patches at display corners (noticeable on white screen). if yes return it asap. found it to be a common error in this model

Diz, 10 May 2022I wish there was a way to disable HDR/Dolby Vision complete... moresame here.
Until I knew about "Special features" in the settings menu of the tablet.
Follow this (from home screen): settings -> special features -> video tool box
And enable it to whatever app you use to stream videos.
Is an all new experience

Alan, 04 May 2022The March Security update has made this unusable for stream... moreReplacement received for the faulty Mi Pad 5 with the freezing streaming apps, and the new one has devoloped dead pixels within a day , i had it with this xiaomi pad terrible QA never ging back , i have never ever seen dead stuck pixels on a tablet ever, have been using tablets since 2012 ,including cheap ones for testing , nothing was this bad

Didnt like the tablet as a note taking devices. The bluetooth stylus keeps on failing me, i would prefer and old galaxy note tab than this when it comes to writing. Its pretty decent for the other parts, but the lack of sd card, 3.5mm jack, and sim card for this version is what i regret having this. Shouldve look on other tablets

I wish there was a way to disable HDR/Dolby Vision completely on this device
SDR videos look way better, in HDR dark scenes are absolutely crushed you can see nothing from it
I'm not sure how they got this certified for HDR/Dolby, I mean the display is good and it seems like a software issue, but they should have detected that in their testing

So i returned the unit and bought Ipad 9 instead for the same price as mi pad 5.
Netflix and Youtube look a lot better on Ipad 9.
And gaming is better on ipad 9 too.

Buy any latest Samsung device and use it to know the difference between Xiaomi and Samsung phones. I have used both and can confidently say Samsung has a refined software and will last minimum 3 years unlike Xiaomi which is full of bugs and is barely usable for a year

The March Security update has made this unusable for streaming apps crashes while streaming netflix will auto log you out ,the widevine certificate reverts to L3 so only SD video ,this happens on disney+,iplayer & prime video too, only fix clear all app data restart and re log in , for it to happen a few minutes later again, only 2 weeks old and getting support is horrible, I recommend not purchasing untill this is fixed ,this seems to be a well known issue

The Xiaomi Pad 5 is a good budget tab that had so many good specs that is not in other tablets! The first thing is the Snapdragon 860 processor which gives a great performance in all aspects, this is not in any other budget tabs. The 120Hz HDR10 Dolby vision display is good but it is LCD which could be a LED screen, this LCD is a good quality one and the picture quality is great! When it comes to storage which is the most important part of all devices, in this Pad 5 there is a 128 and 256GB with 6GB Ram it is more than enough for good performance if the storage is high! The Stereo speakers are a plus because with Tabs we can watch series and movies so this speaker is great as for the battery this Pad has 8720 mAh which is a beast of power and it'll sustain for more than 2-3 days according to the usage. I'll get a back cover or skin from Gadgetshieldz to protect the pad from damage. The Pad 5 is a good investment if you ask me because of these good specs I've mentioned above! Overall the Pad 5 is one of the best tabs in 2022!

ACT12345, 21 Mar 2022Netflix looks so dark on this device, anyone knows a fix?This is because of the Netflix support for HDR+ and Dolby Vision, where the dark scene will still remain very dark even if you adjust the brightness to maximum. Should you test with non- HDR video and see if the brightness remain very dark. The screen itself is not the brightest around, but is plenty bright at maximum setting at indoor usage.
