Cleared cache, uninstall - install (also through ADB)... It just doesn't work. Never had a phone with such frustrating experience. Been on Android from 2.1 version.

Looks like you already disabled Android's so here's how to disable MIUI: Go to battery and performance > Swipe left > App battery saver > Click the three dots on the top right corner > Show system apps > Gmail > No restrictions.

The problem lies with Android, blame Google if you want to blame anyone. Go to Settings/Apps/Manage apps and select the app that isn't working properly. Then select Notifications. In the case of Gmail you will see that Notifications are set to NO. Take on that option and select Show notifications.

Great hardware for this price, but software ie. MIUI full of bugs. All notifications for Gmail is on, battery optimization turned off, but no avail, nothing: NO notifications. WhatsApp notifications same story. Badges or circles not working. It's proper disaster and disappointment. Why smartphone if you cannot get notifications about incoming mails or messages. I don't want to root. Just want to take the phone out of the box and use it.

It’s a very good mobile experience
Screen
Performance
Display
Charging speed
Battery Life
Build every thing is value for money
Camera is ok
Software need some time to get used to
And lack of head phone jack is manageable but not perfect but that’s okay too
Rest I am loving my mobile like any thing
Snapdragon 870 is no doubt a beast

Regarding heating, even gaming laptop and gaming desktop overheating.
The different is that gaming laptop/desktop has much more space to put in better cooling system. Smartphone cooling isn't practical, even externally adding fans also doesn't help.
The long period heating will burn the smartphone motherboard and burn other component.
Either turn down high graphic, turn off high refresh rate to remain cooler.
Maybe can consider Red Magic 6 or Lenovo Legion Phone that has built in fan.

overheating is normal lol, most phones with flagship chipsets overheat, except for the best cooling system in their phones that has a fan. it doesn't affect ur gameplay at all in my experience. you can just buy a cooler since u save money on this phone rather than buy other overpriced phones.

anon, 02 Sep 2021How is everyone's user experience? Is there a lot of b... moreBought one as a gift (trying first), other than the settings search function never finding anything I haven’t really run into any issues. Fingerprint is super fast, much faster than any in-screen sensor like on Oneplus 8T or Samsung S20 (got those to try too for myself).
If you don’t mind the plastic mid frame and having to google where the setting is you’re trying to find then this is an insane value for money phone. Camera quality is decent, low light is much better than Samsung A52 and it costs less than A52 where I live.
People don’t like the OS but it has cool little features like asking if you want to strip photo metadata when sharing.

If you are complaining about the heat while gaming, just buy yourself an aerocooler. It's cheap and it does cool my phone (27 C degree). Really convenient and do the job well. It's just 30 bucks or even cheaper 10 bucks but i recommend you to buy the blackshark fun cooler.

Idk man, 31 Aug 2021And one more important thing, i heard a lot of issues about... moreWhich smartphone doesn't overheat?
Charging while using the smartphone and get overheat is normal.
Running heavy apps, play heavy games also will cause overheating.
Using the camera capture photo for long time and do video shooting, video calling also taxing a lot to the smartphone, then also cause overheating.
In nutshell, any task that use a lot of battery energy and processor will cause overheating.
This apply to all smartphone. Then, some smartphone approach is do thermal throttling, will cause smartphone lag. I don't want saying smartphone has bad cooling, but smartphone really is bad in cooling if compare to laptop and desktop, so slim and small, yet drain so much battery energy, not enough space to have proper thermal cooling, no fan.
Each year, these are keep improving, but yet to reach satisfactory result.

Uninstall all the apps, you will see that the battery life improve a lot.
Don't Whatapps, don't Facebook. A lot of popular apps are battery sucker.
