Fabrice2023, 19 Oct 2023WARNING : AVOID THIS PHONE FOR NOW as there is a big issue ... moreI have the same issue with the global version. Initially, I thought it was a service provider problem. I had my service provider reset my SIM card twice, but the problem persisted.

I switched the SIM card to a Redmi Note 8 Pro, and it worked fine. Then, I tried my company's SIM card (from another service provider) on the Poco F5, but I still experienced intermittent call drop issues.

I sent the phone for warranty claim, and they admitted that a few users had similar issues. They changed the motherboard, but it didn't solve the problem.

I've tried all the recommendations here, such as turning off VoLTE, changing the preferred network, turning off Wi-Fi, etc. However, the problem still persists. I'm out of ideas.

If any of you have been interested in this phone, but have not bought it yet for some reason, WAIT FOR THE POCO X6 PRO (coming very soon). It has been proven that it will be based on the brand new Redmi K70E and it is everything the Poco F5 is AND MORE!

    Poco X6 Pro:
    • Much faster chipset (Dimensity 8300; ~+50% AnTuTu score)
    • Better screen (1220p; 1800 nits peak brightness)
    • Better touch sampling for gamers (480Hz on the X6 Pro; 240Hz on the F5)
    • Bigger battery and faster charging (5500mAh; 90W; 0-100% in 34 minutes)
    • Same camera setup and OIS, with probably very similar quality
    • UFS 4.0 internal storage speed!!!
    • Android 14 out of the box (and it will probably get 2 OS updates)
    • In-display fingerprint reader (subjective, but I say it’s preferable)

No word on the IP RATING, though.
The price should be similar to the F5.

pl2rts, 29 Nov 2023To be honest it's all rumors at this point. To look pr... moreI know the history of the F series, but you have to put it into context: the F1 was a single phone, while recent entries have had Pro or GT models which were the true successors of the F1, while the current vanilla F models are „lite“ editions of the Pro models.

Furthermore, the F3 and F4 were designed and built during the pandemic and the global chipset crisis. SoC manufacturers had to focus their efforts on flagship chips and left the mid-range sort of abandoned. That’s why the F2, F3 and F4 had basically the same chip, but nowadays the upper midrange SoCs have properly returned. And I’m comparing the F6 to the Redmi Note 13 Turbo because it is the most recent rebranding in the F series (Redmi Note 12 Turbo to F5).

Anyway, we won’t have to wait half a year to know what the F6 will be like, since the Chinese version of the phone will most likely be announced early next year.

But I agree with the need to have a 1.500.000 AnTuTu points SoC in the F6. Or even better, since the Poco X6 Pro will already have such a SoC.

The comments section is toxic, all review like a pro, then non are compared realistically. Xiaomi/POCO should stop selling/making these kind of buyer who are so picky and act dumb like a pro. This is a sub $300 smartphone with a lot to offer, and matched those flagship from the past few years. Complain about camera? It is quite subjective, it might not your cup of tea who like artificial focus, brightness and details. Complain about heating? Those games keep updated to accommodate new hardware, you will be laughed by those serious PC gamers as these are neverending chase. Complain about design, lack of features, and everything else, you should stop buying these kind of cheap smartphone, just earn more money and go buy the flagship grade expensive iPhone and Samsung and pretend you are being smarter and get the smarter choice, you don't deserve to own this smartphone

I bought this phone for it's chipset, ram and storage. All i want from a phone is speed. I don't care about camera, design, materials, speaker quality. The camera is average but not bad. Battery is not impressive but neither bad. For it's price it's a killer although many things could be better.

To anyone posting about "hot environment" can you please sht up? If it was due to the environment no one would ever complain about phones being hot because all the phones they had up to that point would get hot just the same. With that being said, I was hopeful that after a few battery charging cycles the phone would get less warm and it's looking like that's the case. It is getting less warm, I barely have a week with the phone so it will probably get better. The battery life itself is getting better which is to be expected as you use a new phone the first few weeks. I got 3.5 sot at 70% battery life yesterday. Unfortunately I had to connect the phone to usb and didn't get more complete measurements. I'll keep you posted. Like a previous commenter said I'm also getting to 100% at 50-55 minutes.. difference from manufacturer's quoted numbers may be due to where the power block is connected (not directly to the outlet). I might try connecting it directly to the outlet once I get a longer 120w cable.

I don't want to brag but how good is this phone to have 1500+ comments here? I'm thinking of buying it one day because I don't want to wait 1.5 or 2 years for the game I'm currently playing to be optimized to play on good settings. Because I'm still waiting for the "victims" if there is something I should avoid or make sure if I should buy this phone or not.

I dont know much about custom roms and lately as much i have heard someone talk about them is that you basically can get android version updates but not security updates.

Also i dont know how far Poco F5 will update support as in the past these been like 2 OS updates. Will it change with the F5 in HyperOS and get to like Android 16-17 or end with the 15 and get just one more year of security updates and it be the end. There is no info on that or any talks about it. Based on hardware there should not be any limits to update 3-4 years of OS and 4-5 years of security.

Also app support in android stay long also as even now most games and apps are supported from Android 8 so in next 5 years maybe it be on something like 10-11 so with this phone you wont lose to any app or anything for next 10 years.

For me android update is more of a the joy of the version number change and that be it. I wont know the new features added to it or even if i know then probably wont use it anyways.

F1 was great with SD845 then F2 was update on screen, popup selfie cam and SD865 and some other things also. Then F3 come with 870 and then F4 same with 870 and then F5 a serious upgrade. So who knows what F6 will be as it's still too soon to speculate when it's still like half a year before it be released. Also when Redmi note series is released 2 times a year then the first one as in winter/spring will be a major update and then the second model is like facelift with some minor updates on the phone later in a year like September/October.

Looking that SD made like mistake for middle class to have 7+ Gen 2 that is like 8+ Gen 1 i would say that they should have all 7 gen newer to be around same or better like go up to 1.5M in Antutu v10 to make sense for top end middle class chip when flagships are already over 2M points.

SD 778 performance would make sense to be budget range too cause of the fast leap of 1M points with the flagship in just 1 year. But still budget is around 200k-400k as of now

Even something like poco X3 / NFC still holds up to today's standard (unless you play one of these bloated games).
Other than that, they may be a few insignificant up/down grades, which to me worthless most of the time.

The F5 is based on the Redmi Note 12 Turbo, which was announced in march. I expect that Qualcomm will release a PROPER successor to the S7+G2 around the time the Redmi Note 13 Turbo gets announced. Right now, indeed, the Dimensity 8300 blows the S7+G2 out of the water, which is why I think that Qualcomm will want to fix this sooner rather than later.

However, the throttling issue was clearly laid out in GSMArena's review of it, which is why I think GSMArena is on average the best place to check a phones performance.

Don't listen to the bigger YouTubers/influencers. They're paid to review it, and if they say bad things about the product, they will be put on a blacklist and not get any future review copies. They are advertisers first, reviewers second.
They usually run AnTuTu and Geekbench once and say it's "incredible performance!". They rarely do any tests that shows sustained performance unless it shows favorable performance, so if they don't show them, think twice. Running the CPU Throttling Test is probably the easiest and best way to show a phones sustained performance/cooling, so there's no excuse to not show it especially on a flagship SoC and/or gaming phone.
