RishiGuru, 02 Feb 2021I admit this is somewhat true. I am a late mover to Xiaomi ... moreI second that. I am a former Honor user. Used Honor Play for about a year. It was one of the best Android devices I have had. The user experience was top notch, had all basics and important features one would need. EMUI is better than MIUI and other skins of different Chinese smartphone makers while being ad free. 9X Pro is a solid phone. I did considered it but unfortunately I can't ditch my reliance on Google Services. I'm currently using Galaxy A51 and this Poco M2 Pro. I would first sell my Poco M2 Pro then also sell off my A51 and get back to using my J7 Pro for sometime. I'm holding my next smartphone purchase till Honor comes back in my country India.

My M2 Pro is a great phone for its price, no doubt, comes pre-installed with Google Mobile Services (GMS), latest Android 10 and what not. But the parts quality & software quality is not that good, so you get many problems in basic core functionalities like network coverage issue, call quality, receiver is not loud during calls, headphone jack issues with cracking sound. The software being very mature and polished is not very well optimized amplifying the hardware issues. Latest software updates are great, but if it comes in expense of stability then is of no use.

I recently switched to a Honor 9X Pro (6/256GB, Global variant) as they were selling very cheap at ₹12.75K ($170/€156) during stock clearance in my country. Other than the software lacking GMS, 9X Pro just obliterates my M2 Pro in the hardware section, performance & product quality. The M2 Pro (6/128 GB) retails for ₹16K in my country while 9X Pro (6/256 GB) comes for ₹14K. You also get 10% card discounts over it, time to time.

So on 9X Pro I do not get GMS, but the software is rock stable. Everything works as planned. The over experience of using Huawei's EMUI is superior to Xiaomi's MIUI even though the 9X Pro is still running Android 9.

HiSilicon Kirin 810 SoC in 9X Pro is on another level to Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G found in my M2 Pro. Using both phones side my side you will feel the difference in the fluidity of the UI, be it CPU oriented tasks or pure gaming. Gaming is awesome on 9X Pro.

In the end the table has turned otherwise, 9X Pro is now my primary because it is rock stable, and the built quality & performance is the best of the mid-range bunch.

This is the worst phone i ever owned. I'm facing no sound from earpiece whenever during call and have to use earphones to listen to the caller. Have to restart multiple times a day. This is the worst phone I ever owned. I suggest if anyone is planning to get this phone, better invest your money in some other phone. Too many bugs, new updates instead of fixing issues adds new bugs.

My M2 pro ear speaker not working after 3 months usage. I can only hear using headphones or speaker. I believe this isssue only after using headphones/earphones. Do headphones cause ear speakers to damage? Yet to search Xiomi service centers near me ,in India.

However I recently got hold of a Honor 9X Pro as they were selling very cheap during stock clearance in my country.

After the US trade ban, Huawei/ Honor is unable to add Google Mobile Services (GMS) and subsequently Google Playstore in their software. Hence 9X Pro is devoid of GMS is solely reliant on Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). I was very skeptical before & during the purchase of 9X Pro how I will be able to use this device as it lacks GMS.

Now I can safely say I can live with it. Inbuilt Huawei AppGallery and authentic Amazon AppStore fulfills 70% of my app needs in this phone. For the rest 30% I get it from ApkPure app store. In this phone I have completely switched to Microsoft Cloud based eco-system. I trust it. Believe me when I say Microsoft eco system is damn good on Android. Just never used it before as I was so accustomed to the Google ecosystem on Android. In my eyes Microsoft is the saving grace on non GMS Android phones.

Other than the software situation, 9X Pro just obliterates my M2 Pro in hardware section, performance & product quality. The M2 Pro (6/128 GB) retails for INR 16K in my country while 9X Pro (6/256 GB) comes for INR 14K.

Gaming is awesome on 9X Pro, just look at the scores.

                            AnTuTu (v8) Scores by GSMArena:

                            Honor 9X Pro (Kirin 810): 312668
                            Realme 7 (Mediatek G95): 292828
                            Poco X3 (Snapdragon 732G): 283750
                            Redmi Note 9 Pro/ Poco M2 Pro (Snapdragon 720G): 279625

Really this is a verg good phone for extreme battery life and superfast sd 720g really its speed is amazing.

Jas, 05 Jan 2021Why poco m2pro not support otg I find every settings But... moreIt's a bug, and my 33 watt charger is not supported for my Poco m2 pro. This phone sucks..

Nearly 3 months back I settled for the Poco M2 Pro (6/64 GB) for INR 11.4K [$153] under offers from an online retailer. Just 3 weeks back I got hold of a Honor 9X Pro (6/256 GB, Global version) for INR 12.75K ($170/€156) from the same retailer. I am from India.

Since then I am juggling between these two phones. M2 Pro comes pre-installed with Google Mobile Services (GMS) and thus Google Playstore is re-installed. With 9X Pro, we have Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), as Huawei is banned from doing business with Google by US companies.

Previously I was so heavily reliant on Google eco-system, I could not think of using a phone without my absolute necessary apps like Gmail, Chrome & Keep. With 9X Pro, this is the first time I ever used a phone devoid of GMS. Hence no Google Playstore in this Honor.

After using the phone for two weeks without GMS, now I can safely say I can live with it.

                                  I changed from:
                                  a) Google Gmail -> Microsoft Outlook
                                  b) Google Chrome -> Microsoft Edge
                                  c) Google Keep -> Microsoft OneNote
                                  d) Google Docs, Sheet, Slides -> Microsoft Office

The Edge browser particularly impressed me. I can safely say it has reached to the level of Chrome, maybe just 2% behind. Everything is as snappy as Chrome but with more added features like Collections tab which I love. In my Windows PC, I synced all my Chrome bookmarks & history to Edge on a second and voila, it is now available on the Edge browser of my PC as well as to Honor 9X Pro thanks to similar cloud based eco-system like Google. In my eyes Microsoft is the saving grace on non GMS Android phones.

Apart from the software without GMS, Honor 9X Pro is a great phone for its price. First it is a very stable phone with very stable software. I have observed the MIUI on my M2 Pro is inconsistent, though having a very good UI overlay and feel. With every update you have the fear of some core functionalities of the phone may get effected. 9X Pro is very dependable in that sense.

Honor 9X Pro's HiSilicon Kirin 810 SoC built on 7nm fab process is a beast and pulls up Snapdragon 845 grade performance. Thanks to my friends, I was able to directly compare it with Poco X2/ Redmi K30, Realme 7, Poco X3 & even Poco M2 Pro/ Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Everything considered, in my eyes only two phones stands out, the X2 & 9X Pro. X2 have better cameras front & rear and GMS. For everything else 9X Pro is the best.It is not that M2 Pro is bad, but in my eyes 9X Pro even without GMS.
