Anyways, the tradeoff is somewhat worth that loss because G99 Ultra is close to a Snapdragon midrange chipset efficiency wise.

KitKat, 31 Mar 2024M5s has 4k recording and it's cheaperwould you rather have shaky 4k video or stable 1080p 60fps video? i'm pretty sure 4K is still unnecessary for smartphones as it takes more space and uses more processing power.

Maybe this is their fault after all, not the sensor i guess.

The colors are somewhat muted (like I'm not defending that Samsung's saturated colors are better), but it's way below natural looking. Even GCam that i used (by BigKaka, named AGC 9.1) had focus issues. So overall, I'm not saying it's the worst part of the phone, but definitely is close.
Now you mentioned Note 9 Pro. Welp, because it has a Snapdragon chipset which automatically has superior imaging processing.

OV64B is great for its price range. the photo they put out has decent amount of dynamic range, video is also outstanding, depending on light environment. and supports 4k 30fps and up to 240fps slow motion. like the oppo reno6 and redmi note 9 pro took full advantage all of it. i see nothing wrong with the sensor.

Including the X6 family funnily enough. Granted, Poco X series is all about "flagship killer" specs for a low price but for the past years, they were at least using Sony sensors and Samsung's.
Idk but I'm just nitpicking, given that my main device is S23 Ultra and this M6 Pro 4G as backup one.

Well since you've said you want the things listed, this is a recommended device for you. Btw the headphone jack performance is better than i expected from a budget device.
And easily the battery life is upper mid tier performance even with "default" switching of 60/120hz HRR.

since i don't have much expectations about the note 40, i think this phone suit my needs. just wanted xiaomi to fix their electronic image stabilization because it's too jerky when you pan the camera.

you have to suffer, 26 Mar 2024infinix note 40 or thisThis, if you can buy it cheaper than SRP because its price range has a lot of great competitors sadly. Otherwise, great display, more efficient than regular G99, has 67w charging, and good (not better than others) cameras.
40 Pro is better value wise. My only con with Transsion companies (Tecno, Infinix, and Itel) is that their "promised" upcoming updates can be DoA most of the time, meaning it will stay on that major OS forever.
If you ask me, second hand flagship phones are MUCH better for less e-waste AND lot of features that even their prehistoric cameras are still much better than any entry - close to midrange phones at this price range.
