mefisto, 15 Nov 2020Can U elaborate more about inferior OLED panels in midrange... moreiPhone X had flickering despite it's cost, just avoid using the phone in too dim places, not good for your eyes anyways.

mefisto, 15 Nov 2020Can U elaborate more about inferior OLED panels in midrange... moreI'd never seen OLED that uses PWM that's higher than 500hz before especially at the price of X3. If you want to know screen flicker at low brightness, use Notebookcheck website and compare the PWM values at low brightness. Iphone 12 has 226.2Hz, M51 has 255Hz, and the Poco X3 NFC (also has similar display to the X3 India) has 2358Hz at less than or equal to 40 % brightness.
The flicker you see with the X3 is its unsmooth auto brightness stepping. They haven't refined it on the 120Hz panel.
On the topic of cheaping-out OLED panels, I don't have any info on that but as an opinion, I'd rather have a cheap IPS that a cheaper OLED.
About the glow and shimmer of IPS LCD off angles, those does not cause eye strain as they're just mainly aesthetic therefore very subjective. Low PWM value does cause eye strain, Notebookcheck noted that people with sensitive eyes would easily be strained even at 500Hz. That still depends on how healthy your eyes are so your mileage will vary.

So it's like they started cheapening OLED technology? Poco X3 does also use PWM, but I notice screen flicker only at minimum brithness with auto mode.

As for the Pocophone F1 I've checked some unboxing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHPB1k-KISg&feature=youtu.be&t=137 It has similar if not worse than Poxo X3 white glow/shimmer effect whenever guy is tilting the device. I guess it's inherent to LCD technology and it can only be worse or better depending on panel manufaturer. This issue is exhibitet also in OLED only to a much less extent so it's less annoying.

mefisto, 14 Nov 2020Got my Poco X3 NFC. People were saying screen is very good,... moreMy Pocophone F1 has much cleaner and better LCD screen than this X3 NFC but I can easily by 2 of this phone for the price that I bought my F1 so there's a huge price difference there. If you buy an AMOLED panel screen at this price point (of the X3) and your eyes are sensitive then goodluck with the very low AMOLED PWM.

IDK why but there has to be some issues with their QC there. If you have dust in camera lens cover then you should get a phone replacement since it's still within warranty. If you went in the Mi community, no one can help you there, you'll still be asked to claim your warranty from the seller.

I've looked on multiple YT unboxings, tests, reviews and find every single one has this issue with glowing whites changes drastically whenever titlting device even ever so slightly. I've got the newest 10.2020 batch, but couldn't find anywhere information about panel manufacturer. The screen itself is very good quality at first glance, it doesn't have any obvious issues it's just I expected a better screen in some regards like for example pixel response it's very slow in Poco X3 you can read notebookcheck review it says very slow resposne gray to grat 44ms and black to white 26ms this is slower than most smartphones on the market that's why text smears when scrolling and pictures etc are blurry in motion. On the other hand the balcks and contrast are surprisngly good for an LCD panel, rest of the colors are punchy as weel so in that regard this is very good panel. However viewing angles ruin it for me, especially with that glowing whites when tilting it's really not stable and it's distracting. I've also heard people having problems with screen, but only with ghosting, however my unit dosen't suffer for that.

People were saying screen is very good,... moreI am complaining about some bugs but nothing like you mentioned.although I heard similar screen problems in the early versions.probably there are multiple screen manufacturers for Xiaomi and some lots have such problems.in Egypt someone bought 2 devices from the same shop with different screen quality after unboxing.I bought mine in Beirut and the screen is awesome.

Got my Poco X3 NFC. People were saying screen is very good, but to my eyes it's mediocore. Yeah 120Hz is nice, but the viewing angles are terrible and it's got the shimmering effect whenever I tilt the screen even slightly it exhibits glow effect especially annoying on white color. I've got an eye strain from this it's like the backlighting is very bad in this device it's not evenly lit. Am I the only one who notice this and find it annoying? Honestly I think 60Hz OLED would be better even at the cost of lower refresh rate... Another issue is slow pixel response time screen is smearing, text is flickering leaving trails. I expected higher quality LCD. The only thing that's good is high contrast and deep blacks.
