Compared to redmi note 14 series this one is beast.
Also wonder why back of the phone must looks much better on a non pro model while the pro model got only 2 cameras and by my opinion worse design.

But I am probably not the right person to ask, my needs for a phone are relative small
I have never bought a flagship phone and likely never will as already 5 years ago a cheap phone would be fast enough with good enough camera for all my needs.
But for me the criterium is: can I modify it to my hearts content and install GrapheneOS or e.foundation ROMS on it? I want to avoid the ad-driven economy as much as I can.
If OnePlus allows bootloader unlock, I think that phone looks really super!

The Boy with Red Hat, 10 Jan 2025Welcome to 2025, those two are already for extinction.The only reason why SD card and headphone jack were dropped by manufactures is to sell you expensive (and impractal) bluetooth headsets which I always lose and higher RAM phones.
Why not both? And don't give me that crap that there is no room for it in modern phones, that really not true. It's just enshittification.

Ironically, the best supplier is Google, which for me is one of the main reasons to install a new ROM to avoid the Play store spyware. Xiaomi is exactly the same like Google: they want you to use HyperOS/MIUI because all your usage data/ads is going back to Xiaomi (in addition to Google).
I try to vote with my money and after buying Xiaomi hardware, I am going to give them a miss.

Because no much people are interested in install ROMs, theres is a plenty of years for upgrades and meny people dont keep theri phones for more than 2 o 3 years.
Cyaogenmod and many others are leaving the support for many models and the few that are around like LineageOS have a very low numbers of models that they support.
End of rooting and Custom ROM are near, just accept it.

Why would that matter? Not everyone wants to mess up the Play integrity API certificates and leave your device unprotected. I agree with Hyper OS being an unpolished OS, though

I am so disappointed with Xiaomi. They recently made it AGAIN more difficult to root the phone, so you can put your own ROM on it. And because the CPU isn't Qualcomm, it will be very very hard to create custom ROMs. PS why is GSMArena not reporting on this?
You can now only unlock one phone per year (if you beg on your knees...).
Nobody in the right mind would want to use the extremely bloated and ad-laden HyperOS.
And on top of this all are the specs not better than the X6...

Curved screen is scary. I dropped my X6 Pro on the corner, it cracked and a few days later the screen is always flashing green. Will there be good screen protectors and cases for this? Worth getting curved X7 with Victus 2 and "tough corners"?
