If you manage to find some mid-range phones that use hardware proximity, feel free to list them here so more people including myself can know.

Fishbone , 30 Dec 2024What's wrong with virtual proximity sensor?Because the screen will turn itself on again during calls, and your ear will do all sorts of random inputs like hanging up etc. I've had calls where my ear has made the call into a 3-way conference call, hung up, opened games, played music, and more.
WhatsApp will jump from speaker to earpiece at random while playing audio messages while moving the phone around in your hand.

Virtual proximity sensors was the biggest downside going from my F2 Pro (hardware) to my X6 Pro (virtual).
It's the 2nd priority after the chipset on my "must-have" list now. It would be the 1st on a job phone.

The camera looks like iphone 16 for sure

I like Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G for the price, design and specs by the way.

So, I'm in NEED of a new phone NOW! I wanted an Amoled, a decent camera, I'm not a gamer so don't care about Antutu scores, but would like an eSIM, IP67, and dual band GPS or BDS. I can get the Redmi Note 13 Pro 5G NOW for a good price. What's the chance of Poco delivering this phone with eSIM? Should I wait? The Redmi sale ends 7 January! Redmi has everything I want except IP rating. I do A LOT of hiking and am tired of wrapping my phone in a Zip lock bag.

This task shouldn't be assigned to phone manufacturer only. It can paralelly be done with Android OS maker to achieve optimum result. Doesn't it make sense? I am sorry if I don't get you right. I do not want to buy a phone with virtual proximity sensor again!

chuck.norris, 24 Dec 2024It's tiring to read about people complaining about the... moreYour explanation is that you tried running a pair of headphones that couldn't be run anyway and anything less than a quality high impedance DAC would struggle to run so taking away the entire port is justified. Have you hear of IEMs? I own a pair of ATH M20Xs and my phone couldn't run it either. Here's the logical deal, if you knew audio, first you'd know what can be run with what to begin with so that's a user common sense error there. second, there are are applications besides music that require quick response/low latency like gaming or audio mixing or frame matching when editing videos (yes, I edit videos on my phone).

Besides IEMs are easier to drive and they are superior for my applications anyway.

You're more than welcome to not use the audio jack on your devices, me and many others like the reliability and performance of wired audio.
