had this device for almost 5 months now. from a customer point of view, i can say that i am very satisfied with the specs/price ratio.
this is a good phone, a reliable, well designed, well equipped gadget. really worths every penny, no doubt here.
nothing fancy about rooting also. it's done in a few easy steps (plenty of info on miui forums; just check it out). after installing the google framework along with all its apps, you're good to go.
because all of the above, i recommend the redrice xiaomi version, because it happens i kinda heart this little toy :)

Anonymous, 13 May 2014What is 1.4 µm pixel? It is the size of a single individual pixel inside that 8MP sensor. To be honest, 1.4 micro meters is actually the average size for most modern phones. In fact, it's not really a bragging point since it's the absolute minimum size required for acceptable pictures.

This is a good phone. I have had it for about 3 weeks, and love it. I had an S2, and now this, which I realize is a give gap in speed/technology. i don't need super speed or 40 MP camera, this phone has all the nice things of the S4 and iFone 5. It is not perfect, but it is a really nice phone.

                    well, there are 2 versions:
TD-SCDMA: used only in China (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TD-SCDMA)
W-CDMA (aka international 3G): used in other countries
                    (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W-CDMA)

If your Xiaomi Hongmi doesn't work with 3G, it is most likely that you own the one intended to be sold only in China.

If you paid less than $200 USD it may be fake. Potential buyers should be aware that Hongmi Note (previously speculated to be called Hongmi 2) has been released in China. It's supply is still very limited even in China. It has an impressive Octa-core and its price (standard version, Octa-core 1.4GHz) is same as Hongmi at its first launch (RMB799). Many potential buyers of Hongmi are waiting and wish to buy Hongmi Note instead once available.

koniac, 03 May 2014can i use this phone in india????????If you wish to use Hongmi outside China, I would suggest buying the Hongmi 'Hong Kong' version which has less restrictions than the China version. Hongmi 'HK' version allows 3G (all HK sim card, not sure about India but probably the same) and also fully support Google Play store (Yes, China version doesn't have that!)

Hongmi 'HK' version is also limited in supply but you can buy easily at HKD 1100 to 1200 at most phone shops. (Selling price from official website is HKD999)
