This could be an excellent phone after its memory-handling issues had been fixed.
Unfortunately, there are 2 basic functions it still fails at:
1. It can't handle mobile net properly. It has a tendency to lose connection frequently (even when standing still) and then does a lousy job reconnecting. It might take several minutes to reconnect for 10 seconds, just to lose it again. Completely unreliable.
2. It's bad at handling headsets. I always listen to music, many times it just doesn't react when I push to play. Figured it out that turning on the phone from standby makes it process the play signal. But the major issue is that it handles calls unreliable. A lot of times it just can't put down the call with the headset and it's a pain to reach into your pocket, take out the phone, turn it on and put down the call when your hands are full. I bought a headset for this very purpose fgs!

New update just came up which upgrades the phone from MIUI 5 to MIUI 6 and iam very sad to say that i am dissapointed with it. I had thought that they should have fixed all the problems during the open Beta but no. The relevant 3g problem, black screen etc are still present. And foremost, the UI or the ROM is optimized in a horrendous way. I never get 300 MB of free ram even when i cancel all the Background Apps. Hope they supply another update which fixes all the problems currently in existence.

riaz, 28 Jul 2015after update my mi 1s my WhatsApp contect list has been emp... morego to security>permission manager>permissions>in apps tab go to whatsapp and in that set allow for contacts.....

after update my mi 1s my WhatsApp contect list has been empty I am waiting from last 8 days but my contect not listed I have downloaded WhatsApp again & make my account again but my contect now not listed anybody facing like this

After updating it to MIUI 6.6.1.0, Android version 4.4.4 KTU84P, phone is working very well, but the major problem in 3G is not working, it says that your sim does not support 3G..,

updated to miui 6 and the phone gone to a new level.now more free ram and less heating.for those who are facing less ram and battery drain even in standby mode i suggest 'task manager' app from playstore.it has an autokill function when the screen is off to kill background apps and keep more ram free.try it and reply if it helps.

Dear friends, please help me to solve this problem. I have smartphone MIUI version 6.5.3.0 but i can't recharge and check the balance of account. We usually use *102# to see the balance. when i dial the phone says" Connection problem or Invalid MMI code". please help me.
