This set is designed for China only. For people from outside China it is strongly recommended not to buy this one. I am currently using this in Bangladesh and having the following problems:
1. They don't have a Global ROM for this model.

2. USSD codes are not working, though I have updated this one in the latest version.
(You can check my post in their forum http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=130167). During that time I used MIUI V6.5.4.0. KHLCNCD and now I am using MIUI V7.1.1.0. KHLCNCK. Still the problem persists. In most of the countries there are several USSD code based services from mobile operators, so if you are using this set certainly you are not going to use those services any more.
So think twice before purchase.

IMPORTANT -- There are no Custom Roms agailable as of 2016-01-01 -- IMPORTANT
The good thing is, there IS an official Developer Rom available, that you really NEED to install if you want to use it in ANY other Country than China. (Link and Instruction here: http://en.miui.com/thread-142581-1-1.html)
After you have used the Developer Rom, you should install this Apk: http://en.miui.com/thread-3998-1-1.html ... With it you get Playstore and most other used Google Apps on your Phone.
All in all was I able to remove nearly Every Chinese App from the Phone. Keyword was replaced with Swiftkey, but properbly any other virtual Keyboard App will work too. Only reason was to remove the language change that was still pesent in the default Keyboard.
The last remnant that I have seen the last days is the Music App that (if you are online) offers you its ads on the first page in chinese, still looking for a solution for that.
So all in all I can say from own experience by now, that teh Cellphone IS able to be nearly completely used in English.
Some reports of heat problems I personally can not confirm. YES, it gets warm, but thats something to expect and very far from hot, furthermore I had this only encountered when using (mostly playing) over longer periods of time (30-50 minutes).
BUT, can I recommend this Phone to others? That would be a clear NO!! .. Absolutely NOT!! .. As happy as I am NOW, it took quite some time to figure everything out how to get it working the way it does now. Better take a look at the Xiaomi Redmi 2 (without A). It has got a HUGE supporting base and you will have no problems whatsoever in Modding, Customizing and Language.

miki, 16 Oct 2015phone is very bad.full of chinese apk preinstaled with rom.... moresame here..i purchased the Xiaomi Redmi 2A , can't install any other ROM , add credit and balance checking code not working at all.
the phone is lying in my cupboard.

phone is very bad.full of chinese apk preinstaled with rom.rom can not be changed because they didnt make global version.just stupic chinese version.can not be upgraded.3g and 4g dont work in europe and 2g internet is not good.totaly freak

i m not happy with this phone. i m using it for five months and one month it was a service senter. now it took so long to recharge, and heating up while talk....

Can anyone tell me which one is worth to buy among redmi2A and redmi 2?
So far i have found this effective info about those mobile -

Though i didn't understand the language, but it seems though redmi2A is having lollypop, it's less user friendly as the interface is just MIUI, other hand redmi2 having kitkat but on MIUI6.
It shows some lagg in redmi2A in the video. May be due to the leapcore chipset. I had heard Mali is better than adreno, so redmi2A should have a better display than redmi2. But again, in that chipset, not getting properly.
I was thinking to buy mobile around budget 6K (INR), had finalised redmi2, with compare to lenovo A6000. Now i am confuse with redmi2A which cost 5K. Is redmi2 worth 2K extra? As they saying redmi2A is going to most worthy mobile to buy.
So, any comments?
