No doubt, build quality, screen resolution/size, performance is better than many phones.
but here are some drawbacks.
1: Lack of apps support, many apps force close. for example app name google camera and many others.
2: milliseconds of lag in home screen transition, whenever you came back to screen there is a lag.
3: Camera is Average
4: Privacy issue/ Xiaomi install apps without user consent. Check your self an app named "mab" in setting/installed apps. it came back automatically every time i uninstalled this. i researched over the internet and found that this "mab" app is responsible to collect user data/info (don't know what type info). this make xiaomi suspicious.
5: too much bloatware, which you cant uninstall or disable.

The new update 9.5.3 for redmi note 5 is very bad it has many issue and bugs the phone gets slow and the battery drains fast I can get only 9 hr screen on time now but before I can get 12hr screen on time and the phone gets little bit warm

DealBreaker, 12 Apr 2018how about 180 seconds?...or 3 minutesI have an Apacer 16GB microSD card and it work without any issue.
Try your memory card on another device and see if it works.
If it works try another SD card from another brand possible and see if that works.
If even that doesn't work your phone might have a defected SD card slot.

I just buy Xiaomi Redmi 5 plus 32GB around 3 weeks,and plug in New sandisk Micro SD card 16GB and always detect corrupted sandick sd card or format as postable storage,i aldy try format to fat32 bit and change another brand SD Card also like that.
This phone jt suppost Micro SD card 8GB only.I think tis is hidden from xiaomi. Any solution pls jt pm me.

I am confused about waterproof matter.. is it waterproof... cause at youtube i saw so many videos where they did water testing of redmi5plus with iphoneX and r5p won in speaker quality and so many other videos which clearly shows it has waterproofing system.. is it? Help me .

battery life is good, speed is fine, camera gives wide angle, but when zoom or take macros,average quality...

Hi im deciding between redmi 5 plus and mi a1.First can i ask is there alot of letteboxing issue with the screen like for example some app dont support the 18:9 so it show black bar will appear.im a guy who like to play mobile game and watch video.i also prioritize support from dev.

I am a light user. I have set bot sim to 2g mode and connect ed to wifi. On browsing the screen on time of 3 hours 77% of battery still left. In my opinion user like me i should easily last upto 7 hours of screen on time.
Camera is average dont expect more from camera.
Design looks good 18:9 with 5.99" screen
I bough this mobile only because of battery backup
Personally I dont like MIUI . I prefer stock android.

When I use 4g, Y my speed connection download data down 500kbs only..is this phone got limited down 500kbs..not 1or 2mbs speed

Sigh(smile). It's been awhile since my latest post here and it'll probably a long story with my r5p. If you don't mind here is my story...
Got the touchscreen issue also and so many bugs on miui fake global rom 9.2.0.2/locked bootloader/china version@if forced update with global rom it'll brick.
But luckily i finally succeeded unlocking the bootloader and safely flash the latest miui version (currently 9.5.3.0) and the touchscreen issue solved/gone and several bugs fixed. Totally bring me back smiling.
Hopefully i can continue to use this phone for another 2 years.

2- no 1080p record with 60fps
1080p and 4k video at 30fps, 720p at 120fps
i heard its possible to get 60fps or even 90 with other apps, but for those to work you have to unlock and root your phone,

the phone is perfect for daily use, it does what it should
