Seems like xiaomi is going even harder in the budget route, hope there will be a redmi 6 plus that has at least a snapdragon processor.

Redmi 3 294 ppi, Redmi 4 294 ppi, Redmi 5 282 ppi, Redmi 6 295 ppi, all at 720 pixels across. Looks like Redmi 5 was the big oddball.

Screen size not big enough for its dimensions of 147.5. Battery is low, chipset uses very very old a53 cores, now new a55 cores are avaiable. 3gb 32gb and will cost 150 euro at least in europe. Old usb . Camera is bad. Gpu is bad for games and not optimized. Not for me. Buy only for secondery phone backup.

Is the ram LPDDR3/LPDDR4X? because Helio p22 supports both. But I don't think they didn't use DDR4x,BTW,why the front LED flash missing?I think most people will agree that Redmi 5 is still better than this.Atleast, they could use 5.7 or 5.8 inch larger screen.Maybe, they will also make big devices, when they see the iPhone X plus coming with 6.5 inch.xeromi.

they have omitted ir blaster. STB is horrible. also, the placement of speaker on back is bad idea.
all in all
I would say, it could be better...

nah, still no redmi 4 prime successor in sight. I might be an alien to you guys, but I prefer compact device with maximum 5 inch footprint. if only they release sd636 phone with smaller footprint

-smaller battery? (but smaller screen too, so is it okay?)
-using an older MIUI (there will be an update?)
-using MediaTek P22 instaead of Snapdragon 450 (I don't know which is better, but I'm sure SD is better o temperature handling)
-moving the speaker grille to the back? why though??

Seems a bit strange that it has some downgrades compared to the Redmi 5. Maybe they will rebrand it as a redmi y3? Or it will be cheaper than the current Redmi 5, because this has more cons than pros.

Anonymous, 12 Jun 2018This can't be right.. From what I see here Redmi 5 is a bet... moreHelio P22 is build based on 12nm process, it means more power efficiency, hence smaller battery
There is nothing wrong with Mediatek P22, I personally happy with Xiaomi who often bring newest Chipset to their phone (Helio P22 on Redmi 6, Snapdragon 710 on Mi8 SE, 636 on Redmi Note 5)

This can't be right.. From what I see here Redmi 5 is a better phone. Why use Mediatek chip? Why larger bezels? Why smaller battery? Why?
