Xiaomi Redmi 7 to debut on March 18

Xiaomi’s Redmi sub-brand already features two highly sought after phones and now we hear a third option - Redmi 7 is going official in exactly a week. In a Weibo post, Redmi’s General Manager Lu Weibing announced the official arrival of the Redmi 7 and Note 7 at the company’s March 18 event in Beijing .

Images of the phone are featured on the teaser poster and appear to confirm the previously leaked specs. The front features a 6.26-inch LCD of HD+ resolution with an 8MP selfie camera tucked in its notch. The octa-core Snapdragon 632 is charged with the calculations alongside a choice of 2GB/16GB, 3GB/32GB, and 4GB/64GB configurations.

The back houses the main 12MP and 5MP camera combo alongside a LED flash and the fingerprint sensor. There is a generous 3,900 mAh battery inside the Redmi 7, which can be topped up via the ancient microUSB port. A plethora of color options are available including black, red, blue, pink, white, green, purple, and gray. Pricing is expected to start at CNY 900 ($134 /€118).

Still the $150 Redmi Note 7 Pro with 4/64 GB beats this one in every aspect. You get a much better processor, USB-C port, Vulkan 1.1 support (all Adreno 6xx GPUs support it) and a 48MP camera.
