Wow it's been 4 years with this phone, its still running and battery seems to be at 70% life. which is insanely good for a phone battery, back then batteries would last 1 year and have 10%
the issues i have after 4 years are;
seems to overheat now
> display died 5 months ago(due to falling multiple times and never broke!) replaced with a techno screen
> camera glass has multiple scratches so pics are worse.
>bit slow but doing better than the realme 5i i got for my mum.
>battery isnt swollen at all..cough cough samsung.., looks perfectly flat. well done Xiaomi.

Xiaomi stopped the security updates on this phone at 1/9/2021.. (Global)
Latest update was with android 10 and miui 12.5.2...
Also wanted to add that this snapdragon 439 chipset mormally supported 5ghz wifi band and nfc functions, but xiaomi did not put this functions on this phone...
The antutu score found online..

Also the reception on this phone is not too good compared to other phones..
The wifi at 2,4 Ghz tops out at 72Mbps link speed, with true speed ~50Mbps...
There is no support for 40mhz channel.. This is a software limitation i suppose.. Only 1x1 stream support.
But except all the above, it is still a good phone.. For some time more i guess..

My only issue with this phone is no signal at my home. I use dual simcard with different telcos and both have no signal compared to my other phones. Anyone having this problem?

Help me guys, after reset my phone (redmi 8) the home screen top bar like battery and network has moved on bottom front camera instead of being line of front camera line..

Is this brick or phone??? I have dropped it and it bend over but all I needed to do is to buy new screen and it's working again 🤣. Plus it's almost 4 year old

When you have ghost issue, lock the phone wipe the screen and then try using it

This is not a good device model but it's okay, the only problem is ghost touch, maybe the use of a screen protector and case... the software and the comfort of the change effect seem a bit stuck....

I don't write reviews normally but i will say the full truth here,
Been using the phone since Nov 2019 (3 years) since it was released, and i would definitely recommend it to any of my friends and family even recently, it cost me 200$ back then but now it worth about 130$ but in Turkey here still cost 200$ until this day because of IMEI registration to GSM signals upon reaching Turkey, so the value is still the same after 3 years.
About reliability this phone fell on floor more than all my previous phones but never had malfunction or a break of screen, still working amazingly, (been using it 2 years without screen protection) still no harm.
As for speed its . more than average unless the memory is full it could be laggy and some apps turns off automatically when Switching apps (frustrating).
I got 265gb sd card for 25$ recently to save apps and media but (NO APPS CAN BE INSTALLED OR MOVED TO SD *NEVER) SD card only good for media storing.
I have 64gb rom/4gb ram type, if you had 32gb its a nightmare for you i guess.
Best pros is that its long time battery, only noticing running out recently (upon using ofcourse)
GSM, BLUETOOTH, MOBILE DATA, HOTSPOT, FLASH, CAMERA, WIDGETS works fine
Games only mid , not for pro gamers.
Camera quality is fair (compared to MegaPixels of new phones)
Hope this clarify most important aspects about redmi 8.

FYI, my mother is still using it and she loves it. Battery lasts for 2-3 days for her.
