I doubt this phone will be called Redmi Note 10. It is still to early for the the Note 10 series. Maybe Note 9X or Note 9X Pro or something similar...

This phone is not designed to compete against Realme 6 Series in a 4G market, or as a successor to the announced Redmi Note 9 series.
Xiaomi selects D820 for this phone so that it can be competitive against Honor's Kirin820. Xiaomi uses AMOLED, and will price this phone lower because Xiaomi does not have a suitable camera to compete against Honor's IMX600 (RYYB), and therefore handicapped in the camera department.
Regardless how this phone series will be eventually named, it is essentially 'Redmi Note 9 Series' for Xiaomi's domestic market.

Xiaomi didn't announce this phone when "Redmi Note 9 series" was introduced a short while ago, because Xiaomi did not want show its hands before the launch of Honor X10 series. This phone is primarily designed to compete against Honor X10, and the pro version of this phone is designed to compete against Honor X10 Pro. Since Honor X10 Pro will not be officially launched on May 20, so the pro version of this phone will also be announced later.

This is basically a Redmi Note 9 for the 5G market. There is no overlap or conflict between this phone and the "Redmi Note 9 series" announced for 4G market a short while ago.
Not sure this phone will be officially called 'Redmi Note 10'. The usual Xiaomi tipsters are still calling this phone "Redmi Note 9", since Redmi Note 9 Series has not yet been introduced to Xiaomi's domestic market as of today.

Xiaomi announced this year that there will be affordable 5G phones by the end of 2020, and they're sticking with that promise.
Don't forget that a very big market will NOT have 5G networks for the next 3-5 years. Which means it makes sense for Xiaomi to release the Note 9 and similar non-5G phones in those markets for years ahead. So it rational they're developing both types of phones at the same time. They always try to price aggressively against competitors so they don't lose market share, so they have to flood the market with cheap phones to turn profits.
And there's no official announcement for this phone yet, it will likely make it to the global market by the end of the year even if it is released in China soon.

Okay this is a great phone Xiaomi, but why on earth release the Note 10 when the Redmi Note 9 was literally released less than two weeks ago?? Like, I'm not complaining obviously, but it's kinda an unwise decision for a business. This is basically going to cannibalize all the profits of the RN9 since everyone's gonna run towards the Note 10 now.
Again, not complaining, but it's a weird and frankly foolish decision. Should've waited for another few months and subsequently added more significant changes (e.g. faster charging, and oh I don't know... a new design??). This great chipset deserves a more fruitful feature list.

As per my observation Redmi not going to use this chip for Indian Market. Because of right now in India there's no 5g scope in 2 or 3 years. That y they use best 4g performance sentry SD chip. Fir note series
