Jabol, 17 Mar 2023Im sure it is just a map bug that wasn't adapt well ri... moreYep MIUI has spme specialities but until now once you knew them i had the impression all apps worked perfectly. If things become time-critical or apps should stay awake there are actually 3 things one has to do in MIUI (at least that is my experience - please correct me)
(1) Turn OFF the battery-optimization (set to "no optimization") in the app-info section / batterysaving
(2) Let the app auto-start if available. Can be done from settings ---> apps ---> permissions (in my German version they call it "Rechte" which means "rights")
(3) LOCK the app into memory - a strage thing that aparantly keeps the app in RAM as long as possible. Can be done by opening the app briefly then closing it. Then tapping the square to bring up "recent apps" and LONG-press the corresponding app. Now there are a few symbols and one is a pad-lock (a little lock symbol with a closed hatch) and klicking this symbol means "lock into memory". The next time you try to view this symbol it will display a lock with an open hatch meining "if you tap here you will unlock from memory" - a bit non-intzitive :-) But i figured out it somehow stops MIUI from "castrating" the apps you really need ...
Did all that to GoogleMaps and the compass still gets stuck. But i am sure they will fix it.

rolandschweiger, 17 Mar 2023No i did not factory-reset and actually would like to avoid... moreIm sure it is just a map bug that wasn't adapt well right now in new miui 14, miui is a complicated rom and unlike other roms some apps don't work well and need to tweak/change things to work properly (like turn off miui optimization/ram extension etc.) Hope they will fix it soon.

The Google Maps version in APKMirror matches the one that my phone received yesterday, so no need to install it now. When i calibrate maps with the "live view" feature, the compass works for about 40 seconds where the map swings and rotates into the direction in which i point the phone, then it gets "stuck" again. I did report this to Google + the MIUI feedback hub. Am sure they will fix it. Apart from that i did not find any issue with the new OS + MIUI so far.

Have not yet recieved OTA MIUI14 upgrade on my Global Note 10 Pro.

Miui 14 global update, visually looks the same as 13, nothing changed. Battery improved a bit. 9-10% battery drain at 1hr sot before, now only 6-7% battery drain. Feels a bit snappier now in terms of touch & swipe response. Dark mode bug fixed. RAM being consumed more than before tho.

So it does not indicate any "beta" here and it works very well
with only the GoogleMaps_bug exception.

rolandschweiger, 13 Mar 2023just switched from 128/8 EU to 256/8 GLOBAL The main reaso... moreso just got MIUI14 / Android13 on my RN10Pro 256/8GB global version. Went smooth and i did not do any factory reset.
However strangely the compass problem in Google Maps also appears here : the map will not rotate into the direction of heading. i suppose google will fix this. all in all everything is perfect.

just switched from 128/8 EU to 256/8 GLOBAL
The main reason is that 2 SD cards went bad. I love dualSIM + SD and especially when on a voyage there can be a situation when all 3 slots are needed! But i do for now prefer 256 GB internal storage and no sd.
So what is the difference? I only had the 256/8 new global RN10Pro for a few days. I think that they changed a few sensors (the proximity) has no issues; maybe the display is slightly different / it appears brighter.
For now i still have Android12/MIUI13 on the Global where as the EU already had MIUI14 and Android 13.
Yet i will not attempt any manualy updates.
Have NOT really found out what difference there is between EU and GLOBAL?
The new phone appears slightly more performant but that is only felt and not very technical.
Cell signal / reception is about the same (Vienna, Austria) i have a spot in my building where quality is very poor so i was able to compare.
Will keep you informed.
Overall THE PHONE IS VERY GOOD - brilliant for the price!

I have had the mobile phone for about 5 months and I can say that it was one of the best purchases I had made.

It has not caused me any hardware issues (at least not yet) and at the price I got it for (€250, 8GB/128GB) I believe it works very well for its price compared to mobile phones of the same price and more from other companies (a friend of mine had get a samsung cell phone for €350 with the same features but I think mine is better and faster). The only downside for many is that it doesn't have 5G in signal, I've never needed it and I don't think it's that important as it has a very bad price and features and mobiles that have 5G at the same price are significantly worse, but that changes with the function what the user intends to do with it, of course it supports 5G on WiFi but I didn't see much difference except for latency (ping).

Its battery for me is good during the day, of course I have seen that its performance has changed quite a bit compared to when I got it.

Also, those of you who want to or have used it should know that the cell phone itself has a pretty good screen glass protector.

The software and the fingerprint are the only issues that bother me as there are some small issues with the software that if they are that important to someone it is something that can be fixed with new updates or if you root it and the fingerprint seems a bit slow to me and not in such a good point.

Final conclusion: if you want it for simple work it's very good but if I were you I would delete some of the apps and turn off all app recomendations and ads personalisations from the settings, now if you want it for hard work it's still very good with 8GB/128GB, of course, you might have expected a faster processor, but personally, any application that is stuck or takes too long is due to a network issue, not hardware.

~Personal Experiences~
A very major issue with the software that I still have is that the Gallery App that comes with the phone and can't be uninstalled started eating up my battery a lot one day (was eating 50%).
I have done as many updates as needed, I downloaded other apps to see if a photo that had become corrupt caused this issue but nothing, through the information of the app I also saw that it was using the internet a lot.
So far I haven't found a solution, it could be something with the Xiaomi Cloud that was full for me but I had emptied it too. Now, as a temporary solution, I've removed all app permissions, disabled it from running in the background, and removed its ability to connect to the internet, and I'm now using Google Photos as my main gallery.
I have done all the necessary actions and given all the information about my problem to Xiaomi but so far nothing has been done.
Anyway as an app it's very good and it's a big disappointment that I can't use it but I had to choose between my phone heating up and losing 20% while it's off or being able to use it normally.
