Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 4G review

GSMArena Team, 22 February 2024.

Design, build quality, handling

The Redmi Note 13 is a great-looking smartphone with flat panels and a flat frame. It is your typical Redmi Note but with a small twist - the headliner model is the only one without a huge camera housing. Its glossy plastic back is almost undisturbed, excluding the two small camera rings.

The large display is protected with a Gorilla Glass 3 sheet, which may not be as shatter-proof as newer versions, but it is more scratch-resistant. The back, as we established, is made of layered plastic, and finally - the flat plastic frame has a matte finish.

The Redmi Note 13 has IP54-rated dust and splash protection. It is an improvement on the previous IP53 rating and means the phone is protected against dust and pressurized 360-degree splashes.

We have the Midnight Black version of the Note 13, but it is also available in Mint Green, Ince Blue and Ocean Sunset. The latter has this marble-like subtle texture.

The 6.67-inch AMOLED screen has nicely thin bezels and seems plenty bright. There is a small perforation for the selfie camera, as usual.

The Redmi Note 13 has a stereo speaker system, unlike its more expensive 5G counterpart. Here, the earpiece also acts as a second speaker and even has a small outlet on top of the phone for better sound balance.

There is one more thing better on the Note 13 when compared to the Note 13 5G - the fingerprint sensor. Here, on the 4G version, there is an under-display scanner, while the 5G model has a side-mounted conventional one.

All three cameras on the back - the 108MP primary, the 8MP ultrawide, and the 2MP macro - as well as the LED flash - have small rings surrounding them.

The Redmi Note 13 fits very well in hand - it doesn't feel cheap, on the contrary, and it provides good enough grip. The black model is beautiful, but it also makes all fingerprints visible. If this bothers you, then there are other brighter options where those are far less obvious.

Overall, the Redmi Note 13 is a well-built smartphone, and we have no complaints.
