And to complement your needs, I think Samsung is quite reliable when it comes to the software experience. Maybe wait to see what they offer this upcoming year with the S25 series and their midrange stuff (A36 and A56)

What do you think about Vivo and Funtouch OS? I've heard mixed opinions about Funtouch OS - some say it's cleaner and more stable than HyperOS, while others think it's just as bad and bloated as every other Chinese UI.

Motorola has some decent phones with a relatively clean Android experience, with some add-ons they bake into it. Some people like that, the cleaner experience.
Also if your Xiaomi phone has a decent custom ROM, then it becomes a very strong product.

Regarding the calendar notifications, go to settings and search for "autostart". Then allow the calendar to autostart everytime it's killed. Also set battery saver to "No restrictions" in the calendar system settings.

Coming from a midrange Samsung, I got this phone to give it a try. Can't say that I am 100% satisfied. Yeah, it's got a great display, awesome cameras, it's super snappy and the fast charging is also nice to have. Now regarding the cons, HyperOS required a lot of fiddling around to get it to my liking and I still miss some Samsung apps, updates are behind on my device (I am on August security update but the latest available update is for November!) and the battery life is terrible (not sure if that's due to the battery itself or the bad OS optimization?). Also calendar notifications don't work (which is actually important for me), and vibration is bugged in silent mode if haptic feedback is disabled. And that's just the beginning, God knows what else is going to come up. Xiaomi has released devices with remarkable specs, but they lost me with their software. I don't know if I am biased due to being used to Samsung, I just want a smartphone that just works.

Very good phone, Xiaomi once again delivers amazing features in very coherent and fair price! With only 250€ (in Greece), you have 5G connectivity, 67W Turbo charge, Snapdragon 7s Gen2 (powerful CPU in this price range) and many more. I upgraded my Redmi 8 (NOT the Note 8 or Note 8 Pro!) to this, and the upgrade definitely worthed it! Thr camera is also stunning! 4K video is also very good. I just noticed something, the phone can capture photos BETTER when the environment has more colors and more light. Primarily the selfie camera, when in low light environment, the photo that the phone captures is TRASH!!!!! Compared to a Note 10 Pro from 2021, the Note 10 Pro somehow dominates the 13 Pro 5G in selfie camera.
The Note 13 Pro 5G however, has some insanely high zoom reaching up to 10x zoom, and still capturing enough details.
Generally, this phone is amazing for budget-ballers.

ofotografoamericano, 05 Dec 2024What is OIS? Optical Image Stabilization, it’s a feature where it helps stabilize the video while recording. It makes sure the video doesn’t get wheezy while recording.
