Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ review
MIUI 14 on top of Android 13
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ runs MIUI 14 on top of Android 13. All Redmi Note 13 models will get an update to HyperOS later on.
Xiaomi hasn't committed officially to a specific number of future updates, but it will likely be the same as on the Poco X6 models - three years of major Android updates and an extra year with security patches only.
MIUI 14 has changed little over the 13th iteration in terms of overall user experience, and that's okay. It's just as snappy and customizable as ever.
Xiaomi has paid special attention to the haptics of this unit as well - we found the motor to be crisp, strong, accurate, and responsive. It reacts to many actions across the system and when navigating. There's even a haptic feedback intensity if you find it obtrusive or not strong enough.
There are some ads, but they can be disabled from within the Settings in the app that shows advertisements and/or recommendations.
We already did an extensive walkthrough of MIUI 14 on top of Android 13. You should check that out for a better overview of the UI and features.
Performance and benchmarks
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ can brag with the Dimensity 7200 Ultra chipset by MediaTek. The SoC offers an 8-core processor with a two-cluster configuration with 2x2.8GHz Cortex-A715 cores and 6x2.0GHz Cortex-A510 cores.
The GPU is the Mali-G610 MC4, which should be enough for a good gaming experience, especially considering this is not a flagship model.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has LPDDR5X RAM and fast UFS3.1 storage chips. The global version is available in two variants - 8GB RAM + 256GB storage and 12GB RAM with 512GB storage (ours).
And now, it is time for some benchmarks!
The processor is adequately fast for the class, and it is competitive in this price range around €450. The aging Nord 3 has had a few price drops already, and its Dimensity 9000 is naturally faster, though. The new Realme 12 Pro and Pro+ are close to the Note 13 Pro+.
The AnTuTu tests put the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ near the top of the chart, slightly behind the Nord 3. The phone is indeed one of the best mid-rangers right now.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ has one of the fastest GPUs in its class, bested only by the Nord 3's. The new Realme 12 Pro phones are far behind.
We've discontinued GFXBench graphics benchmarking as the app is often banned/blacklisted on the phones we receive for review. The graphics performance ranking in 3D Mark is just as meaningful, so we suggest you refer to that one instead.
Finally, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ scored excellent marks on the CPU and GPU throttling test - 76% for CPU and 99% for GPU!
Overall, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is one of the fastest phones in its price bracket. Furthermore, it offers excellent heat dissipation and does not throttle; it never gets hot under peak performance. Nice!

The 2 Mpx Macro camera is a shame! I want the 5 Mpx with AF of the Note 10 Pro

This phone comes with an item in the box that I cannot identify. It's a round black disk about 3cm across, 5mm thick, with an orange strap attached. The back has a removable plastic label, so I presume the back is sticky when that's removed...
