Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 Pro+ (Global) review
A 200MP main camera
For the most part, the Redmi Note 14 Pro+ borrows the Redmi Note 13 Pro+'s camera hardware from last year. This means the excellent 200MP Samsung main shooter is still around.
- Wide (main): 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3, TetraPixel, f/1.7, 23mm (wide), 1/1.4", 0.56µm, multi-directional PDAF, OIS; 2160p@30fps.
- Ultrawide: 8MP Sony IMX336, f/2.2, 16mm, 112˚, 1/4", 1.2µm, fixed focus; 1080p@30fps.
- Macro: 2MP OmniVision OV02B, f/2.4, 720p@30fps
- Front camera: 20MP OmniVision OV20B40, f/2.2, 21mm (wide); 1080p@30fps.
The only change is in the selfie department. The front-facing unit is now 20MP instead of 16MP, but still fixed-focus. The aperture is wider, though and so is the FoV.
Daylight photos
Main camera
Moving on to our image quality analysis, the main camera photos, which we took, were good for the most part. Sharpness and detail were solid, and color reproduction is pretty accurate.
However, there are a couple of missteps. The dynamic range doesn't look wide enough. Shadows are often crushed, and the HDR algorithm is quite inconsistent. Many of the photos we took have clipped highlights.
You can also spot some oversharpening halos upon closer examination.
People shots are only midrange quality as well. The dedicated Portrait mode delivers some solid results, but overall, we are not very pleased with the skin rendition.
Portraits: Normal • Portrait mode
We were surprised that the full-res 200MP mode is adequate, to say the least, and can be useful in certain situations. As long as there's enough ambient light, noise is rather negligible but the level of detail is pretty impressive.
2x crop zoom
The 2x zoom samples offer similar to the 1x mode rendering, so no surprises here. The level of detail and sharpness are more than satisfactory, considering that these samples are digital crops. Still, darker areas appear softer.
We've got a couple of 2x portraits too, but they appear somewhat soft.
2x portraits: Normal • Portrait mode
4x crop zoom
To be frank, Xiaomi probably felt overly optimistic by putting a 4x zoom as a default toggle in the camera app and calling it "lossless". Even in good lighting conditions, 4x digital zoom is pushing it a bit too far. In some cases, 3x zoom photos will look acceptable, but that's just maybe.
Ultrawide camera
Given the price bracket of the device, the ultrawide camera delivers the expected quality. Only a couple of rivals offer nominally better ultrawide camera performance. Still, we can't say we are satisfied with the quality. Dynamic range is narrow, everything looks very soft and these photos generally lack fine detail and color. Closer objects appear much sharper and cleaner-looking though.
Selfies
Despite the supposed selfie camera upgrade, the selfies are underwhelming. The detail is poor and the images are soft. Worse, just like on the Poco X7 Pro, it also appears that the focus is behind where the subject would usually be, which makes for somewhat blurry mug shots.
Low-light photos
Main camera
Interestingly, we liked the low-light samples much better than the daylight ones. You get photos that are generally clean, sharp and decently detailed.
2x crop zoom
While the 2x crop zoom photos are decently sharp and free of any prominent noise, the dynamic range is way off. It looks as if the Night mode didn't turn on in this mode. The highlights are sometimes clipped and shadows are a bit too dark.
4x crop zoom
The 4x samples during the day weren't amazing, to say the least, so we weren't expecting much from the low-light ones either. They are soft, with limited dynamic range and pretty noisy too.
Ultrawide camera
The ultrawide camera visibly struggles at night. Photos are soft, sometimes even blurry. At least the dynamic range looks fine for this sort of camera.
Video recording
The Redmi Note 14 Pro+ offers 4K video recording at 30fps using its primary camera, while the ultrawide and the selfie are limited to 1080p, even though the front-facing sensor has enough pixels to support 4K recording. At least 60fps FHD video is available. Notably, EIS is available in 4K.
You can check out the playlist below, which includes multiple video samples.
The daylight 4K video with the main camera is pretty solid. It has a wide dynamic range, is decently sharp, offers adequate contrast, lively colors, and has negligible noise.
Video stabilization is very good, and also works very well at 2x zoom.
The same cannot be said about the ultrawide footage. It is soft and has washed-out colors and narrow dynamic range.
The low-light footage from the main cam is also pretty impressive, considering the device's price range. The video is mostly clean of noise, it's rather sharp and has wide dynamic range with little spots of clipped highlights, but nothing too major. Contrast is right and colors are accurate.

Watch your step here as you might actually want a flagship phone instead of mid range one.

Make sure that there is no pending download os update, it could be the reason.

Despite the same main camera sensor the camera results definitely seem worse, especially in daylight photos. In fact the Redmi note 13 pro and pro+ last year seemed to have better camera performance
