I'm using this phone for about two and a half years now. It's a grate phone in my opinion. The primary 13 mp camera is excellent specially when using HD mode both in pictures and videos. I have many times taken better pics even compared to iphone 6 cameras of my friends those days. But the selfie camera is kinda useless. Both phone and battery works well still. Functions well in gaming too.
The first problem I faced with this phone was the extra long time it took for charging. This was really frustrating and finally after googling about it I did few changes that helped solving the issue. Get rid of all extra software the phone comes with. specially the battery saver/ charger app (I think its Du charger... not sure).. any way it's functioning the total opposite way and it makes the phone charge super slow and it drains battery soooo freaking fast. After getting rid of it my phone started working normal. Charging was also better. But it even got better when I replaced the charger with a samsung charger. Then it started charging quite fast.
Phone heats up when excessively used on gaming and browsing but it is controllable. I never had a problem with that.
Redmi interface is cool but I prefer google interface so I changed. But one major problem is when trying to download an app directly from google it automatically goes to redmi play store which is in Chinese language. So you will always have to remember the name of the app and search it in google play store. Google play store also dose not come along with the phone but u will have to get it. Redmi cloud is quite good and it always sync quite fast. mobile data saving mode is also good where you can manage data usage by each and every app separately. speaker is loud and clear but not the best phone when it comes to listening to music. Overall it's a nice phone and I love it.

I have imported a Redmi Note 2 Prime version from Hong Kong, and it is authentic. My question is is it normal that the upper left and right screen heat up while charging with normal Mi charger? And just normal surfing on Google Chrome app also heats up a bit...

The only I suffered is about the battery. It cannot long last. The battery drain so fast.. Use about 30 minutes, already drop until 50%. I change the battery already, but still having this problem.. 😞

the main problem i am suffering with this mobile is start button is not working properly since purchased due to which i am suffering allot.

I bought another battery and dock charger through online stores, so when it's drained I switch the battery and let the other to get charged. This phone has infrared, so you can use it as TV remote i.e. in the waiting room where you can't reach the buttons while the program's not appropriate to watch.

I am using this phone by the time it was released almost two and a half years and it still works fine, very fast phone and very reliable. The only thing is the battery drains easy but I have extra batteries for this problem. My new phone surely will be a Xiaomi phone. Very satisfied !

Again, get your expectation right.
If you think a budget phone like this one going to beat the high end or the midrange phone the same time this phone being release, this is not going to happen.
However, there is always newer version, with upgraded spec.
Still remember the 1st Samsung/HTC/Sony/LG android smartphone that come out to the market around 7 years ago? Even those cost much more than this, is actually much inferior to this phone. Things do improve every year, and it seems no point for making an unfair comparison.
So, for those who can pay, just get the most expensive Samsung/Huawei/LG/HTC/Oneplus phones.

I am using this phone and it works great, but the battery life is very bad (about 2:30h of on screen). I just change from chinese rom to global rom and it drains super fast (about 2h of on screen).

Lorenc, 14 Sep 2017I bought xiaomi redmi note2 in August 2015 and the first on... moreThis is a budget phone on it's own, with everything very basic, but still pack 1080p display, and a powerful (power hungry) processor, which is expected to drain battery fast, and overheating (Mediatek processor).
With such low price, actually nothing can be compared about, but it is a proper usable budget phone, which still has OS updates until today. For me, it is a lag free experience on this phone (actually much faster or equally fast with comparable high end phone). Only big issue is the poor battery life.

Well, despite of poor battery life, still work well till today.
Great little smartphone for backup purpose.
Get used to powerbank and always find charger for charging.
Installed in car charger for charging convenience.
