I guess Redmi note 4 in as is condition is not going to be launched in India since it is powered by Mediatek Helio X20 processor

Forget about custom ROMs, only Mi2s/Mi3/Mi4 (high end models) have CyanogenMod. You'll be stuck at 5.1 for long time. And since 2016 all now xiaomis came with boot loader locked, you'll have to get your hands dirty to upgrade even to MIUI 8 when it comes.
