How is the IPS display on this device? Is it a good quality display or not?

Anonymous, 13 Nov 2019Samsung will come out with QD-OLED displays for TVs soon. QD-OLED is totally different thing. The OLED part is only used as backlight while the QD does the color filtering. It's a good tech but the way it works is totally different feom AMOLED.

Tech expert , 13 Nov 2019The brun in problem is old thing fella.. JokerOld thing? Haha. There's not that much about the technology that you know. As long as there's still an organic material in there, deterioration would never be even in an AMOLED display. Once it started, one can only lower the overall brightness to hide it. Even Samsung knew that so well, in fact, they don't commit on using their own AMOLED as the main display panel of their premium TVs.

Kakarot, 13 Nov 2019This is basically a waste of money man. No offense. I am fr... moreI agree with your point. In fact, the user doesn't need to buy a new phone, his/her current phone is even still a viable one for the next years to come.

I would also assume that you might be a person that might play a video or even use split-screen while playing the video at the top and browsing at the bottom, you might also accidentally slept while doing so. In this case, I would suggest you to buy a phone with an IPS display and NOT an AMOLED. AMOLED screens needs special care to keep the organic part to EVENLY deteriorate while IPS LCD is robust and could even take abuses that AMOLEDs won't endure on a daily basis. For the span of 3 years, an IPS would still be the same as it is in day 1 while in AMOLED, it depends solely on the user and their understanding of it.

If you have a Redmi and recording very loud sounds, don't use stock camera app, use Open Camera and set the audio recording to "unprocessed" in Open Camera's setting.

Anonymous, 11 Nov 2019Really wanna see what I am talking about on Xiaomi's IPS sc... morePoco F1 manufactured in India seems to have more problems with quality control. The Global ones (Pocophone F1) made in China were much more refined IPS panel. There's still light bleed at the bottom (because there's where the backlight is located hence the strongest light, it's an edge-lit display) which can obviously be seen on a pitch dark environment with screen set to show gray or pure black fill with brightness cranked to max. Apple devices with IPS will also show light bleed too when done with the same procedure but in normal usage but it's well-hidden with their translucent or blurred background UX design.
