Bought this phone 10 days ago.Great looking device with very good performance.b4 I used Xiaomi Redmi 2,RN3 & R3 pro.All were great devices considering their price.But Redmi Pro look and feel quiet different from above mentioned phones.
Pros:-
* Excellent display,Smooth performance,good cameras,Good battery
Cons:-
* Unavailability of Global rom and accessories
I tried both China stable and Developer roms. Both were good but when i updated Dev rom,it heated like an iron box.Immediately rolled back to China stable and now working normal.

How about RN4(SD) then? Is it also have update problem? I am alsothinking about going with ZUK Z2 instead, but I read that it does not have Google apps. Is this a big problem? I have no idea how to use this custom ROM as such (never done it before), so just wondering whether it is a good idea to buy the ZUK.

GuGu, 12 Apr 2017Redmi Pro Dude, better than J7J7 has a better camera and will receive some updates. Dependent on your country, the J7 can also get a decent amount of service under warranty, which isn't the case for the Xiaomi phones in f.e. Europe and the US.

The RedMi Pro is nowhere mentioned as one of the Xiaomi phones to receive an update anyway. It will probably get an update to MIUI 9, but it will probably still be based on Marshmallow (Android 6). We see this in the Redmi Note series as well. F.e. The Redmi Note 2 never got past Lollipop while it's from the second half of 2015. Most phones from 2014 have gotten Marshmallow.
There are no custom ROM-updates available either because MediaTek doesn't give out the drivers of their SoC's.
For the price, the Redmi Pro is still a pretty good phone though. But just understand that there's a reason why it's so cheap.
