Xiaomi teases its Pinecone chips with a second trailer
Xiaomi is going to unveil its Pinecone chipsets in just three days and the manufacturer's PR campaign is now live. Two days ago, we saw Wang Feng starring in the first Pinecone trailer, and now Xiaomi is pushing a second teaser. Enjoy!
And here is the first trailer featuring the two-time World Memory Champion Feng.
The Pinecones will be Xiaomi's first attempt to enter the chip-making business. High-end Pinecone V970 and mid-range Pinecone V670 are tipped to be announced at the event on February 28.
Pinecone V970 shares lots of similarities with the Huawei's Kirin 960 - the processor is a two-cluster setup with 4x A73 and 4x A53 cores, while the GPU is Mali-G71. Xiaomi's chip will be manufactured on the top notch 10nm process (vs 14nm for Kirin) and its GPU will come with 12 cores (vs 8 for Kirin's).
The Pinecone V670 will be made on the old 28nm process, and will include an octa-core A53 processor and Mali-T860MP2 GPU. These specs are pretty much the same as the MT6750's - quite a mediocre chip that lacks 1080p screen support.
Anyway, enjoy the trailers, take everything else with a healthy pinch of salt, and stay tuned for February 28th.
