YouTube for iOS gets Slide Over and Split View support on iPad

Prasad, 23 March, 2016

Google has released an update to the iOS version of the YouTube app. The update finally brings some much needed functionality on the iPad.

The update finally adds support for Slide Over and Split View functionality on the iPad. The former, available on iPads as far back as the iPad Air, allows you to run an app in a window on the side over your current app. Split View will let you run the new YouTube app side by side with your current app and you can resize the window size.

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, Google still hasn't added picture in picture support, which would have allowed the YouTube app to run in a small overlay window over your current app.

Another small change is that the home tabs have been moved into the navigation bar on the iPad in landscape mode.

The update is now available to download on the App Store.
