YouTube Premium gets Jump ahead button, PiP and smart downloads for Shorts
YouTube announced a few new features for its Premium subscribers. The new features are available for Android users in the US and will expand to those on iOS in the coming weeks.
These include a new Jump ahead button which automatically skips to the most interesting part of the video you’re watching. It incorporates AI and viewership data and will appear if you double-tap on a video.
YouTube Shorts are getting a Picture-in-picture (PiP) mode allowing you to watch content while multitasking.
YouTube also shared its latest experimental features which you can acceess by visiting experimental features page. These include smart downloads for YouTube Shorts and Conversational AI which answers questions via prompts and suggests related content without interrupting your video. Conversational AI is accessible via the “Ask” button under select videos.
The redesigned Watch Page is exclusive to web users for now. YouTube says it will offer a new and improved way to find related content and engage with comments.

As people staring to their prones everywhere in public isnt enough socially destructive, now there's gonna be people talking to their phones all over the place in the future. I can imagine what the adds in the future can look like.

Conversational AI in search? Really? What about reverting search back to pre-2022, when it wasn't garbage? And I fear the redesign, as YouTube has a history of making things worse with redesigns.

Jump Ahead is just sponsorblock for long time users of even more based Youtube clouds. So is the Pip one. Downloads can be done on clients not called Revanced and it could be a single or multiple downlads at once.
