ZTE launches Tempo X for $80 on Boost Mobile

Sprint currently has two MVNO networks that run on its cell towers: Virgin Mobile, which is aimed at iPhone users, and Boost Mobile, which offers a variety of Android smartphones from premium to low budget.

ZTE has launched the Tempo X on Boost Mobile, an $80 smartphone with a 5” 480p display, a 5MP main camera with a secondary 2MP front-facing camera for selfies.

ZTE Tempo X

There’s a 2,200 mAh removable battery, which, paired with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 CPU, should make for decent battery life. However, the 8GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM raises some eyebrows.

Boost Mobile offers a pretty good variety of affordable smartphones, but we would probably skip the Tempo X based on the specs. The ZTE ZMAX XL offers a much better feature set for the price: larger display, larger battery, a more capable Snapdragon 415, higher-res camera, double the storage and RAM, and a fingerprint scanner for just $20 more.
