I don't get why they would release a "lite" gaming phone with a mid range chipset.

Because if you're going to game seriously on your phone, your highest priority is most likely having the latest performance. When you are buying a "lite" phone with a midrange chipset, optimizations you are paying for like liquid cooling or a physical fan are redundant. You'd simply get more for your money just buying the cheapest phone with the latest top tier snapdragon 865 chipset. (Vivo iQoo Neo 3 is $380 but hard to find outside China)

        Also this chipset does support GALILEO and WiFi (6) "AX"
