FaizGT, 22 Nov 2024I watched reviews on YouTube, Z70U uses same sensor IMX906 ... moreAnd their clown CEO is criticizing Vivo and other competition for downgrading from 1" to 1/1.28" in their Pro phones... With competition like ZTE, the other brands can keep lacking even more and still be miles ahead. Just for comparison, the Vivo X200 Pro uses a 1/1.4" in their zoom lens, that's double the area of the Z70 Ultra main camera 😂

Vann, 10 hours agoThe Chinese media reviews are out and the Z70 Ultra UW sens... moreCrazy thing is, Nubia CEO is going around saying that he is upset on the competitors(I assume Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi) for downgrading their phones, like how they all been changing a 1" to a 1/1.3" on their pro lineup, without innovating much.
But it's crazy how this parrot thinks that the consumer is really this dumb their Z lineup has had the same design for 3 decades or so, and his main sensor on his "Ultra" phone is as good as the main sensor on 300$ phones, and the main sensors that the competition used 6 years ago.
The sizes of the sensors in all the cameras are absolutely disgusting for a phone with the top flagship on the market, even gaming phones have better nowadays.
This clown really should stick to gaming phones, or bring up a decent flagship before he opens his mouth about the competition.
Because I'm no fanboy, I just want competition and I gotta hear these parrots year after year putting the same phone with amazing screen and chip, but midrange camera setup, instead of making a move to actually compete with Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei on the camera department.
I don't know if this company has ever used a sensor bigger than 1/1.56", if it hasn't it all speaks for itself, if it has, that's gotta be the most hypocrite thing possible 🤣

The Chinese media reviews are out and the Z70 Ultra UW sensor is a huge downgrade from Z60 Ultra.
They really need to cut off some cost due to the expensive Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
I will just keep my Z60 Ultra for now and wait for a Leading Version or just wait for Z80 Ultra instead.

Especialy if we talking about cameras.
They made worse periscoped camera and ultrawide.
Stupid move ZTE, very stupid move.

So the reviews from Chinese media are out and although there's an ugrade with the main, selfie and telephoto sensors.
The UW sensor was a downgrade from Z60 Ultra even though its wider, the quality of the image didn't match with the previous phone especially with the night mode.
Its worth upgrading if the UW doesn't matter to you and you just want the new Snapdragon chipset or you could wait for a leading version in the near future.
I will just keep my Z60 Ultra for now.

I watched reviews on YouTube, Z70U uses same sensor IMX906 on the Z60 Leading Version, even tho the sensor is little bit smaller than IMX800 on Z60U in terms of sharpness no difference between these 2, but the IMX906 has better dynamic range. But the upset is this new Z70U is huge downgrade on the Ultra Wide lens and telephoto lens. The UW lens Z60U is 1/1.55" downgrade to 1/2.88". The telephoto 80mm downgrade to 70mm but it have telephoto macro, forgiveable.

NoOne75, 22 Nov 2024No true. Human eyes focal length is different - see this FY... moreI didn't say human eye's are 50mm. It just work's similarly.
The 50 mm camera lens is considered a "standard" or "normal" lens because it's close to the diagonal of a full-frame sensor. This results in a field of view that's similar to human vision.
Also I was talking about portrait. Yeah 35mm is more versatile and popular.
And human eye's are 17-24mm. But it has lot of difference. Which makes it similar to 50mm. I'm not talking about width. Yeah human eye's are more wide. But they have blind spot, are not flat (which means inconsistent focal length) and we use 2 eyes and many more.

Doraemon Paimon, 21 Nov 2024Nope, 1x photo is basically a crop from the ultrawide camer... moreNo true. Human eyes focal length is different - see this FYI!
https://hypertextbook.com/facts/2002/JuliaKhutoretskaya.shtml
For cameras 35mm is THE ideal focal length to shoot it all - i use that focal length since 1989, FYI! 50mm is boring as hell. Too narrow, not wide enough.
Guess WHY 35mm is the *most* used focal length bar none for primes with any DSLR/DSLM gear setup! You can shoot it all, from architecture, landscape, objects, street over portraits.

Seems we've reached peak phone camera and now all the brands are coming up with new gimmicks to sell us. Thinking to just get a camera like the Sony ZV 1, and my next phone will be the cheapest one going.

now that reviews are out, everything has gotten upgraded except wide shots quality which in return has gotten much wider & on par with others while losing OIS as well. main camera performs better than iphone16Pro or Xiaomi 15 Pro main Camera or oneplus 13. telephoto shots as a result of improved aperture & AI software optimizations is also producing more details & better shots in dark scenarios versus z60u & models mentioned above. selfie sensor shots now produce like a normal front one ones although at budget quality phones but acceptable to use in 7th gen of UDC for most of people who don't use selfie as main camera. screen brightness & viewing HDR contents also improved noticeably compared to z60u. battery life by using 2nd generation silicon Carbonade technology which is denser than before also has been improved which nubia claims it's like old 6500mah battery in practice. those who want to see reviews & comparisons or charts , check nubia_z_series channel in telegram . AI (used in chinese version which hopefully in global one we see the same implementations), can do usual conference transcribe, live subbing, etc but also as smart assistant for tasks like booking flights, receiving orders like zoom in when in camera mode or asking it to make individual in photo to frown or smile, etc. some playful modes for lights in photos have been also added plus panorama assistant to make high quality narrower panorama-style shot.
it's thinner & lighter while giving better handgrip because of 2.5d body as well.
overall, it looks like at least 2 generations upgrade and not one. hopefully with more capital from higher sales growth, ZTE nubia can extend software support on z70ultra with at least 3 android updates & 4 years of security updates

Doraemon Paimon, 21 Nov 2024It's like YouTube 1080p vs 1080p premium. Yeah 4k is ... moreExactly, I have the Axon 40 Ultra which also has an under the display selfie camera, and while its a cool feature, the selfie camera is pretty much useless. I don't even use the phone anymore and that's one of the reasons (besides terrible software support). Good thing I got the phone when it was on sale.

AnimePsycho, 21 Nov 2024It's written here that Nubia Z70 Ultra has 89,7% scree... moreYou're absolutely correct, the screen to body ratios of these devices are incorrect, especially considering that the iPhone notch is not considered part of the screen, and therefore counts against it in the screen to body ratio. I honestly don't know how they could have missed this. Even if they had considered the notch as part of the screen, it would still be less than the Z70 Ultra, because the screens are almost exactly the same same, except the Z70 Ultra has smaller bezels.
