Just a fair warning to anyone thinking of purchasing a ZTE device. You'll get 1 Android update, if you're lucky, and that isn't even guaranteed. I myself purchased an ZTE Axon 40 Ultra, which at the time it came out was one of the hottest devices with great specs and hardware. At the time I purchased the phone, it had Android 12, or MyOs12. That was 2 years ago. I didn't get the Android 13 update until Android 14 was already released. I only received 1 Android update and I'm not stuck on Android 13. So, just a word of caution, while ZTE makes some solid devices, the software support is awful. And this isn't just me who has experienced this. The internet is flooded with cases of people who bought ZTE devices, only to find they will only get maybe 1 Android update. So, my Axon 40 Ultra pretty much sits at home, because if I were to make it my daily driver and put all my files, photos and info on it, I'll soon have to be upgrading it anyway since I can't update any apps past Android 13. I ended up getting a Xiaomi Note 13 Pro, which came with Android 13 out of the box and already has Android 14. It will get 3 years of Android updates so I'll still be able to use this phone for a couple of years which is more than I can ask for from a midrange device. Thanks for reading this post, and I hope this prevents others from making the same mistake I did.

Shame about the ultrawide. Z60 was perfect as a camera phone but lacked the variable apperture. Group photos always had have person out of focus, and I don't want blury backgrounds for people in nice scenery. Also the 35mm isn't good for video, especially if you use electronic stabilization. The 13mm isn't really good for anything. Seems they haven't decided who their market is. Some people are buying it for the flat screen without a notch. I want it for the camera capabilities - 35mm takes way better photos than a 24mm, even with a smaller sensor. I don't really use a selfie but also don't want to pay extra for the development of the underscreen camera and AI.

Dexter20, 21 Nov 2024Can someone explain why they would select a smaller sensor ... morethe sensor size race is as silly as the megapixel race. A few micrometers of sensor size is barely important and I'd much rather have features like adjustable aperture and better color accuracy. The question I have is why the heck they went down to 70mm, these 2x tele modules are kind of insulting.

It's written here that Nubia Z70 Ultra has 89,7% screen to body ratio. But how this parameter can be less than the one iPhone 16 Pro Max has, if Nubia doesn't have any holes in the display? And bezels are smaller on the Nubia?

Switching to Silicon carbon made this phone a lot lighter while having 150mah more battery, but damn It still be weighing a lot. The screen to body ratio is wrong, because the 16 Pro Max has larger bezels but comes in at 91.7% while having the ugly camera island gimmick.

Dexter20, 21 Nov 2024Can someone explain why they would select a smaller sensor ... moreNope, 1x photo is basically a crop from the ultrawide camera.
And no 35mm doesn't optimize more surface.(35-70,specifically 50mm is better for portrait. Because our eyes function like 50mm)
But I read in a leak this uses 6 plastic and 1 glass lens. I don't know about z60 ultra or leading. But glass lenses are better than plastic ones.
But many other companies are also adoption glass (although all chose 6p+1g combination). So bigger is better at the end.

Can someone explain why they would select a smaller sensor for the main cam? I get 1" does not get utilized to the fullest in a phone, but this 1/1.56" is smaller than a xiaomi mi 10t pro from nearly 4 years ago. Genuine question. Does the fact that it's 35mm mean that they are optimizing the surface area better?

It is lighter than the previous model the Z60? If true, then I could consider getting this as my secondary phone.

So, in the comment section of the news 2 day's before launch, people were saying the new cameras were a downgrade. I thought thought it was a mix of downgrade and side line. But no. It's a downgrade.(Well, we are talking about camera. I appreciate 12GB base model and bigger battery.........)
I appreciate the 13mm uw lens, 1/2.88' sensor
Faster focal ratio for telephoto, 70mm=35x2
Main camera seems to be the same as the one in z60 ultra leading version but z60 ultra had a bigger sensor.

I guess ZTE is just trying to make space for leading version which did not exist. Maybe to charge more money. Because leading version was launched to complete against AI advertising. But this year is not the case. So, ...... .

Also this year's model is bigger than last year's. Other companies are coming close to 6000mah with new technology. So I was hoping they would bump up the battery a little more, smaller than red magic but closer. Yeah they are still giving the biggest batteries after Asus ditched 6000mah. And this is a camera focused phone. But Asus is back to 5800 from 5500. And other camera phones are also catching up. Many spaculate 8 elite as the reason. If it's true then....... .

Guess leading version will bring them all with some extra bucks. But literally, Ultra Leading version. Companies all over the world should come together and make a naming system. Or there might come a day when phone's have name's like some anime. (company name - series name - model - ultra pro max leading version plus some thing new)

Companies are obsessed with glorifying there products

so. screen gets bigger and sharper. nice. better processor. nice.
battery is about the same, but new tech, so made new phone lighter and hopefully will live longer.
telephoto gets more light, so maybe will be as good as oneplus 12's telephoto.
ultrawide gets wider and given that previous ultrawide was about ok to use as a main cam - it will be about two times worse. pretty useless in comparison. we may assume it is one camera less, than Z60 ultra.
