                  I think a lot of folks would have to put things into perspective to better appreciate this phone.

                  For USD 300, I really don't think there are comparable phones from established manufacturers for this price point. Yes, of course it's not as premium as an Iphone 5s or a HTC One. The camera is also not as good as said phones. But is the Iphone 5s USD 351 (Iphone 5s price is USD 650, according to GSM Arena) better than this phone? To a Apple fanboy that is not an issue, but to the reasonable person, the Alcatel represent unbeatable value..

                  Just saying that it's not fair comparing this phone to those "premium" phones. Please compare this phone to those that are selling at comparable prices..

                    Come from Nokia E61, Samsung P780, HTC HD2, iPhone 4 and Lenovo S890.

                    Got it yesterday. Playing for 4 days now...

                    A=Android=OneTouch UI is horrible. They totally revamp the Android vanilla UI. Little junk apps.
                    B=Body-Built=Sturdy but not premium. Slim bezel is irresistible.
                    C=Call quality=average. Static presents intermittently.
                    D=Data=HSPA+ modules for both micro-SIMs are excellent and stable. Bluetooth is stable.
                    E=Email=Email client is not flexible compared to other Android-based phones. But they work as intended.
                    F=Free-apps=Whatsapp, Shazam, Asphalt 7, TouchPal Keyboard.
                    G=Games=Excellent. But juice is the enemy.
                    H=Hangouts= Video call for Skype, Google Hangouts, Tango etc. is acceptable for 2MP front facing camera.
                    I=Internet=Browser is smooth. No checker-board effect even heavy websites.
                    J=Juice=2000 mAh="mediocre". Claimed talk-time, stand-by time, etc. are questionable. Powerbank...?
                    K=Kamasutra =Phone vibrates with notification/ringtone. But vibrating too mild.
                    L=Loudspeaker=mediocre. Tiny and low treble.
                    M=Music=Nothing unusual. Built-in Shazam app is a plus.
                    N=Navigation=Working as expected. Lock satellite within 10 seconds. Waze is working normally.
                    O=One-hand Operation=I have "big" hands and "long" fingers ;-) No further comment.
                    P=Picture=13MP is acceptable but camera features are limited.
                    Q=Quirks=Customised-Android is stable. No quirks.
                    R=Radio=Built-in app does help but as usual needs earphones.
                    S=Sound=Tiny even maximum. Use ear-phone instead. Speaker-phone is horrible.
                    T=Texting=Touchpal keyboard is brilliant. But Swiftkey is better.
                    U=User-Interface=smooth but not flexible. OneTouch UI needs new designer/architect.
                    V=Video=Capturing 1080P video is acceptable. Auto-focus is acceptable.
                    W=WiFi=Average. Not as great as iPhone(s). This is due to cheap MediaTek processor.
                    X=X-factor=5" 1080P screen with oleophobic DragonTrail Glass.
                    Y=YouTube=The screen and ear-phone is the way to go.
                    Z=Zero-figure. Intro-price at RM999.zero-zero is a smart move with medium specifications. Excellent for students.

                    CONCLUSION : Buy it if desperate to have 5" 1080P screen. It's like having Galaxy S4's or HTC One's screen.

I'm looking for a smartphone that has a good quality camera.. That is comparable to Galaxy S3. Since you own a S4, I think you should know the comparison between the 2 phones... So is the camera quality of the 13mp Idol X camera comparable to the 8mp Galaxy S3 camera? I'm a bit skeptical of the high megapixel camera since it is made by a Chinese company called TLC. Alcatel is just their international branding name. Please reply to tuan.gugu@gmail.com
