Anonymous, 16 Jun 2021It is not specifically the Exynos that ruins it, but the Co... moreYou are right about the Cortex A57 causing heat problems, not about the following Exynos problems though. First of all, the Exynos 8890 didn't use Cortex A72 cores but Samsung's own custom Mongoose M1 core. In 2017 they only used Mongoose M2 cores (no Cortex A73s) and in the 9810 only Mongoose M3 cores. In all these generational "upgrades" the CPUs got faster but also less efficient, which is why the Exynos 9810 (with the M3 cores) is one of the worst Exynos SoCs in my opinion. The 9820 and 9825 fixed some of that with using only two instead of four Mongoose cores and two A75 cores. While it is dumb that Samsung didn't use A76s in the 9820, it isn't the reason the chip ran hot, it ran quite a bit less hot than the 9810 due to the A75 actually.
In the Exynos 990 (THE worst Exynos SoC in my opinion) they used A76s instead of A77s as you noted, but again, the reason for this chip running even hotter than the previous were the up-(or rather down-)grades of the Mongoose cores, which is why Exynos 2100 was a lot better than the 990; it didn't use any custom Mongoose cores but only Cortex cores.

Dexstex, 26 Sep 2020But the Exynos chip ruins everthing. Got 91% on charge and ... moreIt is not specifically the Exynos that ruins it, but the Cortex A57, which is known for overheating and high power draw. The Snapdragon 808 and 810 have similar problems with heat. The Cortex A72 from the following year mostly fixed it (Exynos 8890). But then again, in 2019 Samsung messed it up again by using Cortex A75 instead if A76 (which was like 50% better!), but trying to get the same performance as the Snapdragon 855, which DID use Cortex A76 derivatives, so the Exynos 9820 and 9825 were slower than the Snapdragon 855 and used more power, plus they were built with the 8nm process, which is more comparable to 10nm than 7nm, different from what the name would suggest. Luckily, whith the Exynos 990 and 2100, they mostly caught up to Qualcomm, which is nice to see in my opinion, a diverse market with few monopolies has more innovation.

ademaroo, 10 May 2019i have a note 5 n9200 its a great device except the battery... moreThe problem isnt about the software itself but the hardware inside. Neither the screen nor the speaker is draining the battery. It is just the bad CPU that people keep complaining about

Notes5Duos, 07 Jan 2020Just received a NOS Samsung Notes 5 Duos running Nougat 7 ... moreBut the Exynos chip ruins everthing. Got 91% on charge and booted it up normally. It gave me 88% after boot. The Exynos also runs bad on PUBGM LITE (LITE, not NEW ERA) because to overheating. I dont recommend this phone if it is for daily gaming. But the good thing is gyro has no delays unlike those extreme budget phones with a bad gyro

Mines SM-N9208 and i only have a SAMSUNG brand name on the back, no Duos, no IMEI stickers, just SAMSUNG name

Just received a NOS Samsung Notes 5 Duos running Nougat 7 and what a nice piece of hardware. I swapped my aging 2013 Notes3 N9005 with this Dual SIM version of Notes 5 SM-N9208 . The Camera is so good almost as good or better the the latest Notes 10 IMO. It came with s-view cover and screen protect . The dual sim works well with the two operators here in NZ. Vodafone NZ , Spark NZ and very handy while traveling . Have used it for two weeks and love it and its very smooth and fast. Battery dont last whole day and internal storage 32GB is fine with all the cloud storage available. 4GB ram and Bluetooth sync with both my cars's BT. ( RR-BMW BT ULF V13, Garmin 760, ). It does 4G+ on both network . 5G starting to be rolled out here https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/new-zealand/2019/08/first-vodafone-5g-mobile-towers-go-live-in-auckland.html . https://www.spark.co.nz/5g .

hamid, 07 Apr 2019using note5 for 2.5 years.. still waiting for new update of... moreThe reason Samsung won't release an Android Oreo update for the note 5 is simple: It's not worth it. People have started to throw out their note 5s after 2 years, and it would be difficult and expensive to tailor the brand new Samsung experience ui to the note 5

                                Hi...please help me.
My Samsung Galaxy Note 5 often hangs until it can not be ON.
Forced to use simultaneously pressing power button and volume + - to turn it on.
Why this happens? There is anyone who can help explain it.
