I use my LG K42 as a secondary device, and it works just fine. I use it more as a multimedia device as the display is great. I keep bare minimum amount of apps installed and do not multitask much. By doing this even if one heavy app like Facebook works with ease. Just use one app at a time and keep the RAM free.

I am not a dumbwit to compare it with my flagship Realme X2 Pro having flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SoC coupled with sea of 12GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB of ultra fast UFS 3.1 storage.

Worst phone ever! Period. Slow as anything and completely unresponsive. I am paying $1 per month on my mobile plan for this phone for two years and I still feel I am overpaying.

AnonD-785804, 30 Jul 2021Yeah. I think 6.1 days where when people are totally into s... moreUnfortunate but TRUE.

The truth is when HMD first came into picture with Nokia phones, there was a mutual agreement of HMD designing new Nokia phones while Foxconn with its manufacturing prowess to manufacture them. In first year, 2018, HMD tried to bring back the quintessential built quality that Nokia was renowned for and Foxconn was happy to oblige.

The result was $800 grade premium built quality in a $250 Nokia 6. However in 1st year the phones did not sell well as the entire lineup was mated with weak processors w.r.t competition. Nokia had to sell these phones at sale prices or else no one will buy. Extremely low profit and Nokia CMD exited the company. Foxconn gave HMD a second chance as their manufacturing profit was almost non existent with premium materials used to built Nokia phones.

In second year, 2018, HMD perhaps created the best Nokia's considering its time frame. The trio of Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus & Nokia 6.1 had best of both worlds, unheard built quality of previous generations & powerful Qualcomm SoCs at their target price ranges. The per unit production cost with this level of built quality, use of premium materials & top of the line processors soared to the sky. Foxconn still produced them as they thought this partnership will eventually work and they will see the profit. It again failed miserably. Nokia 6.1 top model (4/64 GB) launched at 230 euro was selling at just 88 euros in India when I bought one. I also bought a Nokia 7 Plus when they were selling dirt cheap. Foxconn was again at huge loss manufacturing these new phones.

Eventually this is when Foxconn pulled the plug and declared they will not manufacture for HMD any more. Or even if they do they will do so selectively on the flagship models where they can see good profits. Now HMD was at total loss as they have this huge task to seek out for new channel partners & manufactures who will built their phones. Hence so few new models released on their 3rd year of existence, 2019 and henceforth.

Nokia did eventually came back to profitability by:

      1) Making less phones
      2) Targeting markets where there is less competition so they can keep the initial price pretty high and make good revenue on the 1st quarter of release.
      3) Launch phones much later in the year where cut throat competition exists like markets of China & India.
      4) Letting go of the premium quality construction which Nokia was renounced for in their low to mid range phones. Just look at the Foxconn built all premium billeted aluminium body of Nokia 6.1 and the current plastic bodied Nokia 7.2 and later phones.

RishiGuru, 29 Jul 2021Great buy my friend!!! I am still holding on to my beau... moreYeah. I think 6.1 days where when people are totally into spec sheet things like large notch display four camera and such fancy things where Nokia 6.1 is the kind of phone people wants now. People didn't show up weekend they had more stock dai they did a stock clearance. But nowadays after using plastic glass phones with dull display and mediocre camera.. not people wants a phone that just reliable to do their jobs

I am still holding on to my beautiful blue/gold Nokia 6.1 in 4/64 GB configuration. The 6.1 is still a formidable performer and its design & construction is unique. I don't know how HMD & Foxxcon made it possible at INR 7200 during Flipkart sale period. Same goes for my prized Nokia 7 Plus.

              7) LG UI - It has good widgets which are not showing up if I use other launchers. And gesture navigation graphics makes it feel slow UI. So installed ruthless launcher (Custom pixel launcher) which has good gesture navigation, lock. Only those pretty LG widgets missing. But tends to be snappy as Android one Nokias I have.

AnonD-785804, 23 Jul 2021I saw in LG website that K series will get two major update... moreLG K-series is sold globally and are built by OEMs with LG software. Hence they get proper Android version updates. Where as their W-series are ODM built with ODM software with LG logo.

I am big LG fan and own some of their flagship devices like LG G8X and LG V30+ to name a few. However I will never buy a W series phone as the phone at the first place was not designed by LG. Secondly the software part was also not done by LG. W series phones are made by LG’s ODM partners which include Wingtech, Huaqin and Longcheer in China. The software is also provided by these ODMs, LG only provides startup animation in the software.

On the contrary LG's globally available and similarly priced K-series phones are designed by LG. Same goes for the software. Some OEM then manufacturers the K series phones under license for LG. As I found out K-series have traditional values of LG after buying the LG K42 at meager $100.

Let me explain. If I look at one of their recent flagships like LG G8X, I find:

                  1) Military Standard 810G certified
                  2) An industrial/ practical usable exterior design, a LG trait
                  3) Oleophobic coating on display, repels water and smudges
                  4) Separate physical volume up-down keys, a LG design trait
                  5) Bottom speaker having three big holes, a LG design trait
                  6) Special importance to audio, presence of LG's famed QuadDAC, DTS:X & stereo speakers
                  7) LG UI overlay running over Android 10

The LG K42 have all of the above mentioned traits of G8X, making it a real LG device. Ok it does not have QuadDAC audio chip of G8X due to cost reasons but supplements DTS:X 3D Surround with its own LG 3D Sound Engine. And yes, K42 have a single speaker.

Now coming back to these W series phones like the W41 Pro, it has none of the LG traits explained above. Instead it has ample traits followed by Chinese manufacturers like:

                  1) No phone ruggedness certification like Military Standard 810G. Saves cost.
                  2) Use of copycat exterior designs.
                  3) No Oleophobic coating on display, instead we get cheap plastic screen protector pre-applied. Saves cost.
                  4) One single physical volume up-down key, not a LG design trait
                  5) Bottom speaker having multiple small holes, not a LG design trait
                  6) No importance to audio, no software enhancement found.
                  7) Running stock Android 10, devoid of LG UI overlay.

Hence buying a W41 Pro, W41+, W41, W31+ or W31 is like buying a Chinese phone with a LG stamp at the back. Nothing LG about them. Better buy Realme or Redmi instead.
