MIUI 8.2 ROM is now rolling out

If you own a fairly recent Xiaomi handset, chances are, you have a reason to get excited. Starting today, the Chinese manufacturer has started officially seeding the latest MIUI 8.2 update. And in keeping with its usual support policies, the software will eventually be available to a large number of Xiaomi models.

The devices, currently supported by MIUI 8.2 are: Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Mi 4i, Mi 3, Mi 4, Mi Note, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note 4G.

Owners of these handsets should already be on the lookout for an OTA, through the Updater app. Manual flashing is also an option, with all the download links available at the source. Xiaomi has promised that after this first batch of devices, more models will start receiving the update.

The second part of the staged roll-out will start on February 20 and include the following handsets: Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 3 Qualcomm, Redmi Note 3 Special Edition,, Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note Prime, Mi 2/2S, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Redmi 3/Prime, Redmi 3S/Prime and Redmi Note 4.

There is a full changelog available at the source as well. Some highlights include an improved layout for the notification shade, some lockscreen and notification visual tweaks, as well as brand new system sounds and ringtones. Aside from cosmetic changes, there are some new features, as well. Users can now take full control of the built-in automated tasks feature. Also, the OS will now do an antivirus scan when installing apps outside of the Play Store.

Hi I have the xoami Mi Max in the UK but as yet I can't get any updates at all for my phone in UK.
