Samsung users won't get much benefit from updating to lollipop. One of the major changes in lollipop is the interface and all Samsung with do is keep touchwiz on top of it. Most users will not have an improved experience. But hey, most android users don't care about updates.

Limited, 26 Oct 2014Well to answer your question, 4.4.2 runs on KITKAT under Da... moreForgive me the pun, but that is a pretty "Limited" view of what Lollipop brings.

Yes, there is that big change under-the-hood (which many already got to "beta-test" under Kitkat), but then we also have a whole revamp of the UI with the new "Material Design".

Not only there are new features (new ways to interact with notifications and function toggles) it's the whole experience that becomes a lot more smoother -- something which Android detractors have always complained about when pitting it against iOS.

There are many good times ahead of us, with Android getting a smother UI experience like iOS and iOS trying to get more open to 3rd-party addons like Android (keyboards for instance).

Only Microsoft hasn't woken-up from their "every user must use our interface like we want" deep sleep.

              It's a win-win for everyone.

What is different between android 4.4.2... moreWell to answer your question, 4.4.2 runs on KITKAT under Dalvik (or "just in time" process). While 5.0 Lollipop runs officially on ART which employs (AOT or Ahead Of Time) Meaning, apps will run faster, android will be smoother.

Dang! Why the Samsung "flasgship" so behind in updates? Only to find out it's only for ONE out of 10 carriers that offer it worldwide -_-

Yeah right wishful thinking, more like 5-6 months after the OS release. Google needs to ban all these rubbish Touchwiz, timescape, optimus UI nonsense for good. Those who cant adhere to the stock experience should be banned from having any of the Google apps including play store.

njay, 25 Oct 2014SAMSUNG s4 will get updated or not?Probably not. Only when Galaxy S6 comes out than S4 will get it. That's what usually happened in the past with new Android releases. Basing off history only. But who knows Samsung could feel generous and release it earlier.
