Anonymous, 29 Oct 2014if you are real engineer then you should know 1) android ... moreYou don't understand android development then. the apps of the OEMs are designed with their overlay in mind. The overlays are time consuming effort to change from stock to theirs every time a new OS release done. This also means sometimes making changes to their custom apps to accommodate for some changes in the OS that cant be compensated at overlay level.

OEMs don't care about the customer's after the sale is done they like to do minimal effort in terms of updates as much as possible because of things called profits and shareholders. They can avoid the expenses by simply making it stock and only change their apps to accommodate for the new overlays. Android has kept most of the overlays for the better part constant. Lollipop is the first major change in that area. These happen on a slow pace, even more reason not to touch the overlays and put in OEM rubbish.

Tap to wake or other useful features or even some useless gimmicks can be added without much effort if they so want to. This all means faster updates at minimal expense.

Custom UIs by OEMs add no value what so ever, they are all just an excuse to differential from the rest on first impressions.

Finally, you suggesting people to root their phones and install Xpose and other tools to tweak overlays? That has to be the weakest suggestion ever, you do realize not everyone wants to learn or be bothered with tampering with their phones right? Many don't even know these things but they want bloatfree pure stock experience. Exactly why nexus is getting so popular when it originally was merely aimed at developers.

SO again the solution to this is to stop these useless OEMs from coming out with their rubbish UIs, just focus on what they can do on their own i.e make better hardware. Leave the OS to the people who really know what they are doing in this case Google.

i am repeating . Any vendor/3rd party app which uses the same API which google provides , will have equal performance . Its not skin change . And all OEM have to pass CTS certification to ensure framework are under google standards .

So dont say LG skin /samsung skin / pure nexus ..
Its just home/launcher application what u see and google's one is a reference application with source open.

              1) android ui means home apk+ settings apk ( what visible to user) this can be overlayed by vendor/apps/apks .

              2) so basically pure android means android home apk+ seetings apk done by google which is meant to be replaced by any oem or 3rd party apps as per android design .. there should not be any performane improvement as even a ghz processor can drive thes simple apps

3)so if ur real engineer say android is customizable and meant to be customized and nexus is developer phone with minimum features . im not sure how u evaluating phone based on UI

              nexus5+better camera+better battery+IR remote+better screen +UI(im using cloudy g3 )+quick memo+ = G2

u can make g2 flash with cyanogenmod rom to make it nexus and lose features but cant do the reverse way.

Hey G2/G3 owners , how many of you flashed pure android based ROM ..sorry joking apart as we know from this forum itself we enjoy LG UI than pure android. and G2/G3 sales prove the capability of device

Hmm, debating stock android vs oem skin.
Come on, it's all about taste. Personally i hate stock android. Now i'm still used ancient Optimus G Pro :D with G3 rom, and it's fantastic. LG flat UI has done a great job, all G3 feature except knock on (because kernel related feature) is there. And i think people who love stock android is advance user, so you can always flash cusrom aosp based. I believe 80%++ regular user out there like unique OEM skin

To people support pure android ... is pure bloatware from Google . Atleast OEM will give some additional features . I am always using dual-tap,IR remote.quick memo, quick window case and many more etc and saw people crying the same for the nexus phone in xda-forums .
