I do think that sometimes they get small things right ( split screen in touchwiz, double tap to awake in LG etc. ), that is why I say, take the best elements of these UI's and make them an on/off switch on stock android.I agree that the complete custom UI, in my case touchwiz unnecessarily bloats the phone. The slowest app on any Samsung phone, is the "Phone" app, which requires a small portion of the hardware to function. OEM's should rather focus on optimizing the OS and hardware to run as if they were designed for each other.

nice LG, 29 Oct 2014MHanz, you are providing a very biased point. I can speak f... moreAccording the maker who makes the rubbish UI what else do you expect them to say?

"Our UI is pure bloatware but you know we have to differentiate from the competition so we'll just trouble you lot with our custom UIs because that's how we roll" ??

All the custom UIs from OEMs are pure bloatware rubbish with pointless gimmicks. You don't need me to tell you how gimmicky it sounds to wave your waved like a crazy person trying to change pages on a browser when all you need is a small flick of your finger to do the exact same thing on Samsung phones OR how you use 3 fingers to swipe 3 programs into temporary stasis on the LG. The list goes on with all this nonsense.

Just leave the UI/theme/overlay work to the OS maker and focus on actually making some sensible hardware. XDA or other loner developers can make special themes that are an option for anyone to consider, not the norm.

The success is because of the build quality even plastic! LG gives its products excellent build quality for reasonable prices which Samsung simply can't match since they make huge profits from their poorly built products!! G2 and G Pad 8.3 as examples! Motorola is doing excellent products as well!

I can speak for myself, I own S5 and Nexus, and there are elements of both that I like. Touchwiz is far from perfect, but stock android also lacks a few "skin features". I would like to see Google,Samsung,LG and all OEM's sit around a table and include guys who make custom skins like Aviate etc. and add together the best elements of each, and then incorporate them into stock android. They can then do away with custom skins. This is however a pipe dream. They all do their skins, because it "enhances" the experience according to them

LG being a Korean manufacturer, and is probably the most similar comparison to Samsung really now gives Samsung no excuse for its poor performance.

LG has DOUBLED its profits, and Apple plus chinese manufacturers are also doing well.

Samsung should abandon its current premium pricing strategy, and go back to providing powerhouse smartphones, at great prices. They are strangely in a situation similar to Nokia at one point, still one of the largest players, but could fade very quickly if they do not respond properly.

                  Well done!

Their TVs are much cheaper and on par with most of the best panels out there, they omit the marketing expenses and pass on those savings to the customer.

Not surprised with the smartphones. G2s are still selling like hot cakes in east asia. Even the less stellar G3 is selling good.

What they lack is near stock android. If they adopt that it makes everything easy in terms of updates and general appeal. People are not in love with garbage custom UIs anymore. Lot more people prefer stock android and with Lollipop it will be more natural to mock anyone who is on some lame looking touchwiz or timescape or optimus or sense UI.

OEMs should be put in their place, do the hardware right and focus on things like image quality and battery life. Leave the look and feel to the OS makers because they know it better than these p*ss poor also ran attempts from OEMs.

Unlike samesung lg sold mostly high end devices (mainly G3). They don't have a better midrange/lowrange phone .
