A february release date won't be too late for this phone.
SE high end phones certainly have the 'wow' factor. Hope this one meets expectations.

They'd better think how to decrease its price so that more people want to buy it. For example: less money on ADs and smaller price! Or simply smaller price! Because I expect it to land in shops at around $1000 each.

Again the device will be superseeded by the time it's released. By Feb 2010 and if there are no more delays (unlikey and a further dalay will happen).
I fell sorry for SE, they are always late to the game.

I hate to bring that up and I might be inviting most of you to come over me, but in reality only few hundreds or maybe a couple of thousands of people are in this war here, rest of the world doesn’t even know what is going on in world of mobiles. They have no clue what cell phone is coming, why it is coming and what is inside their bodies. All they care is when it will come into market, they go there they might see and grab it, if they fit the price right they take it home. If the price is too high the salesman shows them device’s benefits and they might take it home. These people are way too much more and they are potential customers. Most of them don’t even care if these things have single or multiple touch sensors, the possibility is they don’t have any clue of what OS their device has.
I can go with the list how those people buy phones but I think hint would be enough. The only thing IMO is damaging SE is because their rates are higher than other companies and also because they don’t have too much of low-end handsets.
The most lethal element of all that is causing market downfall to all companies is China handsets, because for above mentioned public, China handsets are “Better” than these highly expensive mobile phones (this includes not only Sony Ericsson but almost every good manufacturer name you can think of). They see massive touch screens on those, TV out, radio, games, double or even 4 speakers vibrating sound system and even Internet and emails. The list is long and the price is damn low.
What these companies or specially Sony Ericsson need is working on to their advertisements to regain their market share. SE also need to do some serious fixing on their software speed but what they really need is to show what their devices can do in practical life.
At the end, in my heart I am all about X2, I love the design of (now) X10 but for my requirements, X2 is my pick. I might grab a hold on X10 just to keep this beauty in my collection.
By the way I am not Sony's die hard fan, but I am just bit practical I think.

Absolutely fabulous phone, that's coming just as it's planned, and here's explanation:
X10 aka Rachel is based on Cortex-A8 processor by Texas Instruments (TI OMAP 3430) - same hardware that's inside Satio!
So hardware is ready and proven!
The key here is software! Cortex-A8 is supported in Android 2.0 (Éclair)
Very first phone with Cortex-A8, and Android 2.0 is Motorola DROID! Actually Motorola has one quarter exclusivity on Android 2.0, so all other phones based on Android 2.0 will arive in 2010, including X10!
So far SE traditionally used GSM Summit in February to anounce new phones, so it's logical to presume that will be the day of official lounch of their first Android powered phone!
Another reminder: so far only Snapdragon based phone - Acer A1 runs Donut (1.6) - that's 'cos basically Snapdragon is ARM11 on steroids, and Cortex-A8 is truly different ARM architecture that requires truly dedicated and optimized version of Android, and that's actually what 2.0 is!
