Samsung UK says no Lollipop for Galaxy K zoom

The device, which was released back in June last year, currently runs Android version 4.4.2 (KitKat).

You should never update a samsung device to lollipop. I work in phone sales and that has come straight from our samsung rep who told us the update has more bugs thsan ever and isnt worth doing

        "If it runs Android, don't buy it." (that's my guiding rule when buying smartphones)

        This is another reason why Android is not a viable option for a smartphone.

        Basically, Android:
        - needs a huge, unjustified amounts of resources and processing power to run (and still doesn't manage to run smooth)
        - has an outdated interface (currently trying to catch up to Windows Phone's flat design interface)
        - apps are run in the most inefficient way
        - has security holes everywhere
        - needs weekly restarts in order to still be responsive (while other phones run for months without any restarts required)
        - basic apps (calendar, contacts, email, messages, etc.) are a mess; they look and work like each one of them was created by a different freelancer, lacking design consistency, being visually unappealing, crashing, lacking basic features, etc.

        The only thing that tricks people into buying Android phones is the Play Store -- but that is mostly a bunch of different apps which copy each other and do the same useless thing(s).

        So yeah... If you want to be able to install funny fart apps from 1000+ app devs and use custom launchers (because that's the only way you can make Android look appealing), then Android is the way to go.
        But if you want productivity, you buy a Windows Phone; if you want to show off, you buy an iPhone; if you need great messaging functionality, you buy a Blackberry with a physical keyboard.

          where its limited and has continually had the world lead in app crashes by a huge margin for years.

          And even better iOS 7 & 8 bugs, crashes, and lags.

          And as if WP has not dropped the ball on countless devices in bulk before.

                This is so sad. I was hoping to get one of these (for it's ultimate imaging capabilities), but turns out I have to wait for the successor. It's not a large dealbreaker not having lollipop, but having the newest is the best (imo)

It is a successful merge between a point and shoot and a smartphone but unfortunately it didn't sell quite well and there isn't a successor so far

                      hoohohooo.. this is what you'll always get forever, if u keep buying droid devices. no updates after 2 years (or less).

                      Go buy wp or ios devices.

                        Standard for Samsung, only the flagship models gets reasonable support (and even then for a short time), most others models get no major updates, you need to buy the next model when available.

                            I feel bad for people who buy these "non-mainstream" devices and then miss out on updates. It must be hard for Samsung to review and approve all of their handsets for a new version, but for a particular price class you'd just expect updates to be a non-issue.
