so you basically cant use this on a non wifi phone to access wifi in my office... instead my phone becomes a wifi hotspot fed by a 3g data package?
cool... can use my ipod touch wherever i go, on my own connection... nice... ;)

HO, 12 Feb 2010Great idea, I would have to wait and c how the whole thing ... morebuddy the carriers will love this, it should boost sales or their data plans... but thats if it performs well with the phone, not consume too much battery and have powerful range...
perfect if you have many wifi enabled devices that you use and only want one connection from a service provider... i.e. instead of getting a dsl or other connection in addition to a 3g service for your phone, you only get it from the cell phone operator, for he phone and use that connection for your other devices... your phone will now replace your wifi router at home, and in addition you can carry it with you in your pocket... but only feasible if you have a cheap and solid data plan...

Great idea, I would have to wait and c how the whole thing is going to work, since most carriers will not like the idea this will have to find a way to work on any phone and so there must be a way to make it work on any carrier also its important to know how will it be reusable.

this is not something that will enable a non wifi phone to have wifi connectivity... it operates with the service provider's connection the data transfer that you receive is not through wifi but through 3g or gprs or egde. it only makes your phone a wifi router which means that other devices can use your data plan over wifi, sort of makes your phone a wifi modem. so you can access internet on your netbook or notebook or other devices via their wifi, but the connection will be through the sim card(as in your phone which is the router will supply other devices data to access internet but the source is your 3g data plan from the network operator, so that you don' need to connect the phone as a modem through a data cable instead wifi) these will probably come with a data plan... not a cheap wifi enabling upgrade for your non-wifi phone.

This is good thing for non Wi-Fi devices, but will they be able to use it as a wireless Wi-Fi surfer throe wi-fi hot-post, or maybe need java cracker in order to do that.

sounds like a great idea. allows me to own a compact feature phone and have a some kind of netbook/tablet when I desire mobile internet/smart phone functionality. One would not be constrained to ones cell phone provider in choosing this second device. As such, I expect the cell phone providers to squash it.
